My friend Anas is severely suicidal. He had already been struggling with mental health problems long before the war and now watching his parents and siblings languish under the famine is chipping away at his will to live day by day. Every day he tells me he wants to die and is growing more helpless against his suicidal thoughts and I don't know what to tell him. He is currently very physically ill as well. His tent just collapsed exposing him the rain.

I didn't want to share this because he deserves his privacy but after talking it through with him we don't know anymore what to do to make it clear just how dire things are. Please, please, do something to help him. Anything at all. Talk to anybody you know who has anything to spare. If you're on any other social media, if you're a streamer or creator with any following or you know any internet personalities with any reach, please help set anything up for him, or even just post his fundraiser anywhere along with the vetting link. I don't want to lose my friend.

I can't lie, I find it very odd that posts cautioning people against donating to individual* campaigns and promoting the idea of supporting mutual aid efforts and community kitchens in Gaza can rack up 10k+ notes--while a post promoting a community kitchen (that I can personally vouch for) struggles to get 1k notes, and has barely pulled in a couple hundred dollars over the past week.

I actively try to avoid using guilting tactics in fundraising, but this is weird to me. It's like people are using these posts as an excuse not to do things they already didn't want to do anyway, rather than actually taking their recommendations on board...

I am writing these words after losing hope in everyone… except for you, my friends. Tumblr has a very large number of users, estimated in the millions . That’s an enormous number!
