I've hit a very interesting point in my craft where my go-to substitution color is yellow. White actually has its own list of associations for me (thank you, Magic: The Gathering pop culture magic) and I just generally have a lot more yellow candles sitting about. Or, well, I did before I started burning all of them. But you get what I mean.

Pst. Hey. Did you know I have a Discord server for magic stuff? And we recently overhauled it.
This server is 18+ only.
Cool things about this server:
beginner-friendly but we don't lecture you!
our vibe is "hanging out and sharing cool things about our practices"
you get to be called a Bean!
color roles are based on scorpions, otters, cats, and axolotls
system friendly!
the channel names easily show what the channel is for
we have an entire infodump channel
a quotes channel!
and this guy!

You can't go into the forest to secret away your lies.
The rocks have ears and the trees have eyes.
Eyes of the forest. Aspen trees

Actually yeah, let's do that! Y'all know how @ad-caelestia coined "advwitches" and "grownasswitches"? How about we use tags like furry/alterhuman/otherkin/therian/nonhuman witchcraft/paganism/magic(k), stuff like that? That would be better than me trying to chase down individual blogs, after all, and it would be completely opt-in!

Wholeass, this Werewolf Magick book I'm reading is putting a lot of my Recent Experiences And Yearnings and the current trajectory of my practice into perspective, considering I keep getting pushed to get back out into the nature on my 80-acre farm by Cernunnos. After years of biting and kicking and screaming about not being a nature-related witch, I am finally being dragged into nature-related witchcraft. You can put the fool's cap on my head now, I accept this L.

omg, what if you're like spiritually a werewolf boyfriend???
I am a goddamn parody of myself.
Have I explained why I go by Jasper, why it's my preferred name? It's because any time I get crystals (from rock shops, from tourist traps, from rockhounding, et cetera), I wind up with more pieces of red jasper.
Well, here's a little sentence from page 54 of Werewolf Magick by Denny Sargent (emphasis mine):
Such a talisman could incorporate any werewolf associated stone, such as a moonstone or red jasper.
I am going to bite my own foot, this is just as ridiculous as me finally putting 2 and 2 together about werewolves and Cernunnos.

Reframing it like this feels like it makes concepts more useful to those who can't visualise. Like, find a trancework that might work for you! Auditory, kinetic, etc
Also it's trancework.
It's not visualization. You don't have to visualize.
It's trancework and finding magical headspace, and learning how to work within that space.
Within that space a great number of things may harness and convey power.
Without that space, visualization is just sparkling imagination.
