Photos of street art spotted in Los Angeles, especially in Downtown's Arts District in areas I tend to haunt such as Silver Lake, East Hollywood, the Culver City arts district and beyond. I also repost cool street art and similar work (I define street art VERY broadly) wherever I may see it on Tumblr.

Disney to launch online game world connected to Fortnite, invests in Epic
Disney's buying a $1.5 billion stake in Epic Games, and also jointly launching an immersive universe of Disney brands connected to Epic's Fortnite game. If you don't understand, don't worry. The kids almost certainly do. Let's see if this time, Disney can get a big bet on games and tech right. The track record is a bit spotty, as I outline in this Forbes piece. What do you think of the deal?

Three Hollywood studios up end sports TV with joint streaming service
Three of Hollywood's studios stunned the streaming industry with a sports-focused "skinny bundle" that will peel away even more cable subscribers, and might impact virtual MVPDs like YouTube TV. But for now, lots of questions, starting with price. If it was, say, $45, would you subscribe?

Mural in Parma, Italy commemorating the defense of the city from a fascist assault in August 1922.
The blackshirt attack on Parma took place just ten weeks before Mussolini seized power. The defence of the city was led by a Socialist activist Guido Picelli and the local branch of the Arditi del popolo, a national anti-fascist organisation.
Picelli implemented a meticulous plan of unprecedented urban guerrilla warfare, with successive rows, trenches, ditches, barricades, barbed wire, electric cables, and even improvised minefields, defended by the population of the working-class neighborhoods and the workers of the city under the direction of the 400 more or less armed Arditi del Popolo, those veterans of World War I, whom had been preparing for combat for 14 months. Those who had weapons fired bullets or threw grenades. The others, old, young, children and especially women, resisted with pickaxes, iron bars, stones, crossbars, bricks and boiling oil.
Taking advantage of the passivity of the army and the gendarmerie, the fascists attacked in successive waves for 5 days, but were always pushed back, leaving dozens of dead and wounded. The fascists eventually retreated in an indescribable disorder and their leaders decided to put an end to their campaign, accepting their bitter defeat and their humiliation.
Picelli then appealed in vain to the social-democratic, communist and trade union leaders to take advantage of the victory of the antifascists of Parma and to generalize the example of its brave defenders to all of Italy. They all turned a deaf ear and turned their backs on him.
Three months later, Mussolini became prime minister, fascism came to power for the first time, and began to inspire a host of imitators throughout Europe. The tragic aftermath is well known.
