Brittany Pierce. I used to be a dancer but I don't really do that anymore. That's okay though because I'm expecting and that's probably the best thing in the world. I'm staying with my best friend, Santana.And her husband Sebastian But that's okay for now The rest of the story is a little complicatedI'd rather not talk about it.{Sebrittana 1x1x1}

Summary: Brittany is surprised to see Sebastian home and gets a little nervous.
Sebastian always liked his Mondays because he was only at his office half of the day. He might be they only person in corporate America that had this kind of affection for the start of the week but he did not mind. So he parked his car on the driveway and pulled out the grocery bag that contained the ingredients for the lasagna he was planning to make for dinner and entered to the back door. The house was quiet and he was not sure what he expecting. It might as well be that Brittany was not there. Sebastian barely saw her. He was sorting the produce when he heard somebody enter the room. He looked up and smiled at the addition. "Hey." He greeted.
Brittany had spent the last two nights in the guest room, which was quite large for a room that was hardly slept in. The bed was much more comfortable and her sleeping pattern had bounced right back into place. It felt strange having nothing to do all day. Of course on the weekend both Santana and Sebastian were around but Brittany kept mostly to herself, she didn't want to get in their way. However it was Monday and since she was up early she'd seen both of her hosts leave for work. Brittany busied herself with light housework most of the morning, stove top, kitchen floor, bathrooms. Although there wasn't much to clean the house was kept absolutely spotless, it was nice to just be going through the motions of it. A little before noon the blonde had settled down for a nap and sleepily padded toward the kitchen upon waking. She hadn't noticed there was anyone else in the house until she turned into the room, momentarily startled to see Sebastian. "Oh." She shook her head. "I mean... Hi."
Sebastian placed down the onion he was holding. He might not like it that Brittany was staying at their house but he was happy that they were helping her get back on her feet. "Hi. Sleep well?" He asked, noticing the webs of sleep that still clung to the blonde. Maybe that was why he did not see her often. He read somewhere that pregnant women tend to sleep a lot and he was a bit glad to see that color was returning to her face. He had so much useless information concerning pregnancy at the back of his mind and he sighed sadly as he placed his groceries to their proper places. "I hope you like lasagna. I'm making it for dinner."
Brittany swallowed, pushing down the uneasy feeling that was rising up in her and making her nervous. It was just Sebastian there was no reason for her to be worried. The blonde could sense how he wasn't exactly her biggest fan and there were just some parts about Sebastian that Brittany never understood. Usually it had been the odd remarks he'd always made meant to be insults but most of the time flew right over Brittany's head. They were older now though and Sebastian wasn't insulting anyone there in his own kitchen. She stepped further into the room, nodding her head. "I love it." Brittany said truthfully, there weren't many foods that the blonde didn't like, especially in the last six months. Except for salami , that had become repulsive.
Sebastian nodded. "Good." He replied. He opened his mouth but he realized that what was about to come was small talk and god how he hated small talk. He did not like Brittany enough to suffer through that so he kept quiet and did his little chore faster. That way there would be little awkward silence between them. He whistled a merry tune and folded the paper bag to be used the next time. He was about to say that he was going to his home office when a loud crash echoed in the room. He turned and saw that Brittany had accidentally broken a glass.
Brittany was tall enough to reach into the cabinet, she was tall enough for most anything that was up high, it was just that as she was taking the glass from shelf in the cabinet she turned to look back at Sebastian, the whistling drawing her attention. Andrew whistled all the time, it was something he used to help keep himself calm when he was angry a habit he said he picked up in grade school but to Brittany it was a warning and the sound made her tense. When she turned the glass she was taking knocked into the one beside it and before she had time to reach out it was knocking against the counter and then shattering on the floor. "Oh no." The blonde's eyes widened and she quickly got down to her knees without glancing up at Sebastian, to worried to see the anger that was surely in his face. "I'm so s-sorry." She stuttered out, trying to gather the pieces together quickly, forgetting to be careful. Brittany yelped when a shard of glass sliced into her index finger but she barely let it faze her, continuing to try and clean up the mess. "I didn't mean to, it just... I just... I'm sorry. I'm so stupid..." She rattled on, terrified.
Sebastian eyes widened when Brittany got on her knees, seemingly uncaring about rogue shards that might be on the floor. He walked quickly towards here as she began the totally futile process of piecing the glass together. "It's okay." He said but he was not sure it even registered to her that he said something or that he was standing in front of her. He pursed his lips when she injured herself and he decided to get her attention. He placed a hand on her shoulder. "Brittany it's okay." He said firmly, trying to make her listen.
Brittany jumped feeling Sebastian's hand on her shoulder and she pulled away even though she knew it she was fine. The blonde stood, taking a step back from both Sebastian and the mess. Finally she lifted her eyes to him but there wasn't any of the anger she was expecting to find in his features and she deflated some, flickering her eyes back and forth between Sebastian and the glass on the floor. "I'm sorry." She said again, this time for her strange behavior but also still partly for the broken glass. Her eyes filled and she blinked the blurriness from her eyes, tears sliding down over her cheeks. Brittany parted her lips to speak again but realized it was only to apologize once more and silenced herself. She dropped her eyes to the floor but caught sight of her hand and lifted it to inspect the red on her fingers, growing queasy.
Sebastian shook his head. "Here let me look at that." He said, evenly. He out stretched a hand and there was a few seconds where Brittany seemed to be debating with herself whether to show him the injury or not before she finally did. He carefully inspected the cut. It was not that bad and he guided the blonde to the sink, away from the fragments of glass and opened the faucet. He placed the bleeding finger under the running water "Keep it there okay? I'll be right back." He quickly went to get a broom and the dustbin and the first aid kit. He cleaned up the mess and walked back to Brittany. He showed her the kit and smiled. "Now you'll see how good I am with minor injuries." He said, in a light tone.
Brittany didn't really trust him, it was something that she had felt as soon as he'd come home that first night but she couldn't pinpoint exactly why until now. Sebastian reminded her of him. It was something about the way he held himself, maybe his cool confidence, or even maybe the angle of his jaw. The more Brittany looked at him and the more she thought about it, the more she could see Andrew in Sebastian. The thought brought on by the simple whistle. She let him check her finger anyway and even lead her over to the faucet but she didn't shake the thought until he smiled at her. His smile was distinctly different. Even though the one Sebastian offered her was only out of politeness and didn't quite reach his eyes, it was still so different and she let herself find comfort in it. Brittany nodded, wiping at her cheeks with her free hand and watched him get to work.
Sebastian took out the iodine and a cotton ball and held out her finger. "This might sting a bit." He warned before dabbing the soaked cotton ball on the cut. He did it gently, the same way he did when treating his nephews and nieces when they get scrapes when they visited him, their favorite Uncle Seb. He looked at his work before pulling out two boxes of band aids with designs. One was Spongebob and the other was Barbie. He grimaced as he showed them to Brittany. "Which one do you like better?" He asked. "These are our only band aids, unfortunately." Between my sisters' children and Santana's students, they thought it was a pretty good idea.
Brittany bit down on the inside of her lip when the sting hit her finger but she didn't make a noise, watery blue eyes tracing over Sebastian's face while he was busy concentrating on what he was doing. As soon as he looked up again the blonde looked away, keeping from getting caught staring. Why was he being so nice to her? Brittany couldn't help the small smile from tugging at her lips at the thought of Santana with a Barbie band aid and she tipped her chin toward it, signaling the bright pink over Spongebob's goofy face on bright yellow. The blonde had long ago quit the kid stuff but she wouldn't lie and say that colorful band aid didn't make her feel a little extra better. "Thank you." She said simply once it was secured on her finger, forcing herself to meet Sebastian's eyes when she said it. Maybe he wasn't so bad... even if he whistles.
