I will never not crack up laughing at this scene because of Michael Queerler.
#the way Dustin is clearly uncomfortable and Mike is... well#Mike Wheeler is queer#they filmed this scene so well#that's not even mentioning the song Fever playing in the background#sidenote I have Thoughts about this scene just as I have Thoughts about other scenes in the series

the idea that it’s ‘creepy’ to interact with things posted a long time ago is so terrible for artists and contributes to the pressure to be constantly creating new work, at an unhealthy and unsustainable rate. I hate it so much.
#my best posts are old#please feel free to dig and engage with any that you enjoy#since I'm not really writing new content currently#hope to... but I'm not yet#also my sleep deprived parent brain isn't as eloquent these days anyways so

there are some things a character should not be able to tell us about themselves EVEN with a gun to their head. depending on the character that could even expand to include "most" things

Hi…I wanted to ask your opinion do you think if we get project 2025 stranger things will be banned? I am worried about that among every other part of it..
Even if those behind Project 2025 wanted to ban Stranger Things, they most likely wouldn't prior to Stranger Things 5 being completed and released and enjoyed by fans. Oppressive regimes, even when they hold unlimited power (which currently, that's not at all how our government is structured no matter how much certain leaders might wish it was) ... well, they don't like to ruffle the feathers of the average citizen, whose quiet indifference and compliance is key to their continued growth success achieving their goals. To use a crude analogy: they want to slowly raise the temperature and boil the frog without the frog realizing it until he's dead. They don't want angry frogs. Stranger Things is a very popular show. It would create too much mainstream noise for their early goals to involve cancelling Stranger Things.
Now. Once it's released, and it's been on Netflix for a year? Maybe. It could be something seemingly innocent and behind the scenes within company policy and the changing of what shows are available. And it might never be connected publicly and directly to political changes in our government, which would (once again) raise alarm bells that would not be convenient for them.
But I think it's highly likely you will get to see a completed final season air. I see it as unlikely that the show will be banned or cancelled at all, but it's always possible and there are many countries that have undergone huge ideological and political shifts in short periods of time, and we are not immune to that risk in our own country. It's important to always know of the possibility and to stay aware of politics.
I understand the fears around Project 2025 and I'm sorry that you're plagued by worry right now. You're not alone. There are so many good people in this world and in our country who don't agree with its scary goals. I hope you find some small comfort in my reply.
#us politics#project 2025#fyi I don't think it would be specifically intent on cancelling Stranger Things but maybe a ban on queer media yes and therefore#by extension... stranger things

ONCE AGAIN I AM POSTING MY FAVOURITE EDIT I'VE EVER MADE
but this time im yapping, too. Firstly - the way the woman says "it's been one thing after another", but from Nancy's pov it's "nothing's new". Nothing feels new or real with Barb :C
Secondly - the chaoticness of the way it's edit adding to the feel of everything passing by and melding and merging into a weird numbness. The clips are all representative of meaningless everyday life, none of the actually important stuff Nancy went through is shown here, but rather implied. The text is not on beat with the clips making it feel more out of rhythm than it really is. Also, the font keeps changing. Everything keeps changing but nothing is new.
Third - (I forgot this initially) The clips are slowly but steadily getting darker, Nancy is spiralling deeper into her mind before-
Fourth - the hard cut off of the song, removing the filters, drawing us back into reality. The eery silence as Fred is the only thing you can hear. Nothing is new. Nothing is happening. No background, no chaos, no music. Just Nancy being forced back into the numb yet tense present.

It’s easy to forget JRR Tolkien was a fairly prolific academic translator with an interest in early medieval literature and philology. It’s so inspiring that he found time to write The Hobbit while fighting for his life over Beowulf.

"I think what's cool is there's a story arc for Mike," Wolfhard says. "At first, he finds this girl and he treats it like, ‘Oh, I discovered something really cool.’ Then he kind of realizes halfway through the second episode [that] this is an actual girl. It’s not E.T. It’s a person. He’s never even really talked to a girl, and now he’s teaching a girl to talk.
“I think he’s just drawn to her because one, she’s the first girl that’s ever had an interest in him, and two, he has crazy interest in her and what’s going on in her brain,” Wolfhard continues. “He just feels bad for her, too, that she’s gone through all this. It’s very cathartic for both of them. They talk to each other and they vent because Mike and Eleven are sort of outsiders.”
-Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things: Worlds Turned Upside Down - P80 to 81)
#there's moments I wonder how much the cast knows#there's aspects of statements and quotes like this that have me raising an eyebrow#but the more likely scenario is that the show creators will tell the cast about their characters and then they'll repeat certain phrases#not necessarily knowing things yet#if y'all think I'm talking about byler no I'm not

Other possible leaks about season 5
there's no confirmation on when this scene is set so we don't know if it's from the epilogue or not, the baseball setting is very interesting since we've had multiple people in the byler fandom point out how baseball in the show is a metaphor of forced conformity 😗 and another thing I thought is what if they are inside someone's mind, like what if they are inside Will's mind and there's that specific setting for that reason...
Lonnie wanting Will to play baseball ⚾
Billy and his abusive dad in season 3 ep. 6

If i'm being honest, byler ain't the dynamic i am more interested to see because i don't have any doubts that they will be endgame anymore, so Mike and Lucas duo is what i'm really looking for. Since season 1 they don't have that bond of brothers that fight but love each other. In season 3 both of them were together for the most part of the season, but it was always in humorous scenes, nothing that really developed their relationship.
So now i am very excited to see what they're cooking for their friendship, now that they're older they can talk about some more mature topics and help each other to understand what is their place in the world, and how the two of them can help each other growing up, and be included in a comfortable and healthy space for both.
#love this#lucas sinclair#mike wheeler#yeah same I'm kind of Over It with byler not because I don't love it but because it's inevitable and#not the most interesting point of conversation about what they might do in season 5 imho#byler is not something that needs any more analysis or recognition#we've got lawyers on YouTube ok
