I’ll never take people’s words on a Dragon Age game (if there’s any more) again. With how I’ve seen the reputation for Veilguard get absolutely destroyed because it doesn’t live up to previous games shows that people can’t move on.

Veilguard is far from a perfect game, but I think people need to acknowledge Dragon Age is a series that’s always had questionable (sometimes just weird/problematic) writing, and are flawed games. People have been looking at the series too fondly to see that while the newer game lacks, it’s really not AS BAD as people make it out to be.

I think one of the main reasons people are so desperate to make it seem like a bad game is because they’re going off comparison without giving it a chance on its own. You can be justified in disliking the execution but it’s really strange to try and severe it from the series as if it isn’t a game that does do things well.

Personally, I have Veilguard a lot of shit initially because I was still riding on the high of playing the previous games and really I just wanted extensions of those ones. Once I gave myself time to sit and try to enjoy Veilguard, I did. I enjoyed quite a bit about it, and in the end it was emotionally impacting for me as a person who has grown close to the series and finds a lot of comfort in it.

Give it a shot, don’t go in expecting it to be exactly like the other games because that will soil the experience.

And the day has come! After much thought, I've realized I'm not fully satisfied with the result. The ending felt rushed, and some scenes didn’t turn out right. So, I’ve decided to rewrite the story. Book 1 will now include parts of Book 2, combining both storylines.

Romance Options

Daemir - The Stoic Lord. The tallest of the twins, Daemir stands out with his muscular frame. His long, white hair is often tied behind his head. His sky-blue eyes are often emotionless and cold.

Xavier - The Prisoner. His chocolate-brown eyes gleam with warmth. His short, curly brown hair adds a touch of charm, with a single rebellious curl that always rests on his forehead.

Tameran - The Pirate Captain. He has an intimidating presence, marked by his tall physique and tattoos that snake around his neck. His slightly curly brown hair frames a face where rebelliousness sparkles in his light green eyes.

Nicholas - The Rebellious Prince. He has mischevious dark blue eyes and wavy blond hair, parted into two curtains that frame his forehead. Tall with a slightly muscular build, his physique hints at a few duels fought, though fighting was never truly his focus.

Jarean - The Mysterious Servant. With his curly red hair and tall presence, he is a charming young man. One of his eyes is a deep, dark blue, while the other bears a white pupil, a lasting mark from an injury that left him blind in that eye. The scars across his face add a layer of mystery, each one telling a part of his untold story.

Maevra - The King's Guard. She has dark, curly brown hair and deep brown eyes that radiate confidence. Her tall, muscular build marks her as a intimidating soldier, and a scar over her bottom lip stands as a testament to her rigorous training.

Clara - The Adviser's Granddaughter. She has a youthful face framed by medium-length blond hair. Her light blue eyes radiate kindness and respect, and a small mole rests delicately above her lip.

Astryn - The Enemy. She has red-kissed hair, deep brown eyes, and long, dark waves cascading down her back. Despite her slim build, she's a fierce fighter, favoring speed over brute strength.

Lena - The Hateful Queen. Her long, straight dark brown hair perfectly matches the cold, merciless glint in her eyes. Though shorter than her brother, her presence is undeniably dominating, and her slim build hints that she has never touched a sword.

Revna - The Lord's Twin. Though shorter and slimmer than her twin, Revna still commands an imposing presence. She keeps her white hair cut just above the shoulders for ease in battle. Mischief glimmers in her sky-blue eyes, a sharp contrast to her brother's icy gaze.

The public demo consists of four chapters, while the Patreon demo features five chapters. Book 1 will be longer than the previous version and will end with a battle and a (determinant) marriage.

If you’ve played the old version, I recommend forgetting everything and playing the demo with a fresh perspective for a better experience.

Fallen Hero Game Guide

"I would NOT recommend playing these games out of order. Do not be tempted to read spoilers or guides, you can always do that after doing a blind playthrough.

That all being said, I highly recommend you play each of these games 'blind' the first time. No spoilers, no guides, no saves. Just choose what feels right to you.

After you've done one blind playthrough of the first game, Fallen Hero: Rebirth, I recommend replaying and exploring it to find what choices lead you to a character and narrative you feel satisfied with before moving on to playing Fallen Hero: Retribution 'blind'.

If you want to explore all possible options in Fallen Hero: Retribution or are struggling to decide what you want for your character/narrative, especially because there is no 'undo' or 'save/load' button, then I recommend using a CoG Save Manager and the [Do U Wanna Build A Sidestep and] So You Want To Be A Villain guide.

Yes, even if you're neurodivergent. I don't have ADHD, but it is allegedly a thing with ADHD as well. And I am autistic, and after a bunch of nerve damage (severe enough that I was basically housebound for 6 months), I had to completely rebuild my ability to get my brain to Do Things from what felt like nearly scratch.

This is specifically from ADDitude magazine, so written specifically for ADHD (and while focused in large part on kids, also definitely includes adults and adult activities):

Resources on this aren't great because they're mainly aimed at neurotypical therapists or parents of neurdivergent children. There's worksheets you can do that help a lot too or thought work you can do to sort of build the neuro-infrastructure for tasks.

But a lot of the stuff is just like. fun. Pulling from both the first article and my own experience:

Play games or video games where you have to make a lot of decisions. Literally go make a ton of picrews or do online dress-up dolls if you like. It helped me.

Art, especially forms of art that require patience, planning ahead, or in contrast improvisation

Listening to longform storytelling without visuals, e.g. just listening regularly to audiobooks or narrative podcasts, etc.

Meditation

Martial arts

Sports in general

Board games like chess or Catan (I actually found a big list of what board games are good for building what executive functioning skills here)

Woodworking

Cooking

If you're bad at time management play games or video games with a bunch of timers

Things can be easier. You do not have to be stuck forever.
