Just finished my first two-day zine fest at the Rare Books SF Fair!! Honestly, so much easier than I was expecting (and worried about). We were able to leave our wares in the building overnight, so I didn’t have to transport everything twice in a row.

I made pretty decent money, had some really good conversations, made some good connections, found more opportunities, and had a good time! The crowd was definitely interesting, and I did feel pretty out of place with all the rare and antique books. I saw a map for $82,500!!! Wild that I was allowed in a place like that.

I’m updating some old flash sheets with some new designs in a new format, because I’m also updating my booking methods for tattoos! An announcement about that will follow soon :)

I’m p excited to be tabling at this event in SF tomorrow and Sunday. It’s my first ever 2-day fair! Tbh I’m a little nervous about it - I’m gonna be BEAT on Sunday evening and I’m not sure if we leave our stuff there overnight? But it’s a huge event (at least it is in LA) and I’m really flattered to have been recommended by SF Zine Fest to table.

My sticker of the month design for February is released! I cheated a lil with this one and took it from an older Friday the 13th flash sheet of mine. No one ever got this piece but I love it so much!

The “ghoul tier” subscription level on my site gets you this sticker before the public, AND access to my art posts before they hit Instagram (or tumblr tbh. I neglect this site a bit whoops). You also get insights into my thoughts about being a working artist, and personal photos or BTS photos of my art and process <3

Omg!! Guess who’s opening submissions for Transvestia again in an attempt to actually complete issue 17 that’s been “in progress” for over a year!!

You don’t have to guess, it’s me 😔

But seriously!! I got a lot of art and poetry submissions but not a lot of longer form written stories (both fiction and nonfiction). I’m opening up submissions via email for 1-3 page stories about the intersection of transgenderism and *physical* disability for issue 17: QUEERCRIP. I will be picking 3 stories to publish, and the remainder will be given the option to be kept on file for future issues where they fit the theme, or just not published and “returned” to you.

I’m also looking to feature one of these three stories’ author as the front cover! If that interests you, please indicate so in your email.

Submissions are due 2/14/25 at 11:59pm PST, and I will get back to you within two weeks(ish?). Please keep an eye on your email because I WILL be asking some follow up byline and demographic questions for publishing!

So I had a hysterectomy today (hooray!) and I brought along my stuffed orca, Shamu, as a comfort object. And everyone i interacted with during my pre-op was like "Oh! Who's this?" so I was telling them all about him, how he's been with me since I was 9 and gone on every single vacation and road trip, and they were telling me about their own stuffed buddies (one lady said she still has hers after 40 years!) and all of this while I was signing consent forms and providing a list of the things I'd brought with me, you know, small talk.

So then a nurse comes over and goes "Okay, I've got some stickers I'll put on your things so we know they're yours" and I'm like "OK cool" so she puts a sticker on my coat and stickers on my bags of clothes and then she turns to Shamu and I'm like "oh I guess he gets a sticker too"

But no. She pulls out a hospital bracelet that's an exact copy of mine and slaps it on his tail, like so:

And i was delighted by this, so I took a picture to send to my friends, who were equally delighted, and were cracking me up with their reactions (like so:)

Anyway, they take me back and put me under, and when I awake groggily a few hours later it takes me a minute to get my bearings, so I don't notice Shamu at first. But then I realize he's tucked up next to me in the gurney, so I grab him, and my hand touches gauze.

And I'm like "huh?" so I look at him and I realize

They gave my fucking orca a hysterectomy
