And to add on to this, even when the ballet idea falls short in terms of the actual canon, it is such a perfect route to further expand and explore Fugo as a character.

Ballet as a dance form and industry is pain wrapped in pretty linen wraps. Its gruelling on the body and especially the feet, ballet dancers are often put through a strict diet for their image that can develop into later image issues with self, any slightest 'imperfection' is severely punished and beaten down with shame all the while some mean as fuck middle aged Russian woman that is your instructor is berating you. At the end of the day the audience that goes to watch a ballet performance expects the most elegant, coordinated image of perfection on stage. All the while the dancer is supposed to look the image of sophistication, as well as tenderness.

Now sure, perhaps his parents would have found ballet a little too traditionally feminine and never actually had him take it as a physical course at the side along his academic studies, but for a character that is the literal embodiment of 'genius burnout' and 'gifted child', its such a perfect theatrical endeavor.

Another thing I had mentioned while talking about the ballet industry with Lili was its history of sexual exploitation of ballerinas, especially those that started young and more often than not were the girls that were forced into the industry by their parents. Just look up the Paris Opera Ballet and its history with prostitution of the ballets. Or just look up why Edgar D*gas was so obsessed with drawing ballerinas during their classes (eughh...) And unfortunately, who else was a victim of a predator in their early adolescence?

He is ashamed of his violent impulses and anger, eager to act like he is not a violent asshole when he can (Like when they were introducing themselves to Trish and he was assuring her in the role of a perfect servamt at your service). With how integrated Fugo is in the canon and non-canon material AND fandom space with things considered traditionally 'higher culture' (academia, piano in phf like Lili mentioned), Ballet for Fugo is just too perfect.

I talked with @stolenpensfromspencers and we had an interesting headcanon while sharing MMDs.

Fugo is actually the best dancer of the Torture Dance Trio™️ because he had to learn ballet, and taught the other two how to dance.

Very vague spoilers to his anime and to a little bit PHF backstory too

Why ballet you ask?

In the anime the Fugo family is rich, part of the elite, right? What dance is associated historically with entertainment of the top of society? Ballet.

Also in PHF he plays the piano (which is associated with academia and in aesthetics dark academia) because his parents forced him. While this isn't in the anime but this behaviour would fit them considering how far they tried to push their son academically. If he had to learn how to play the piano why not force another sophisticated thing on him?

"And ballet is seen as elegant and delicate, perfect foil to Fugo who's parents push him to be the perfect image and him in turn pushing to show a picture of perfection to people" - to quote Mur from our convos.

I also like to think that Mista's and Narancia's styles stuck to him hence the infamous Torture Dance was created lol
