Rin calling Yuri "kaa-chan" is so cute and innocent 🥺🥺 Rin calls Shiro "Jiji" is affectionate, but the contrast between what he calls his two parents without context 💀

It is!! I love how Rin is very open when it comes to calling people how he feels about them. (as compared to Yukio calling Rin "nii-san" all the time despite RIn always referring to himself as "nii-chan") Shiro deserves to be called kuso jiji ngl lmao

For those who don't know, the great thing about the Japanese language is how you can use different terms and add different honorifics while referring to/talking to people, usually to show closeness, respect, and stuff like that.

"Kaa-chan" is an endearing way of saying "okaa-san" or "(my) mother."

"jiji" is a very informal way of calling any old man. Like, beyond middle aged old man or uncle, I believe.

"(My) father" would usually be "otou-san" (respectful) or "tou-chan" (endearing) if we were to match how he calls Yuri. When Rin's sad or serious, he calls Shiro "tou-san" but never to his face LMAO. When talking to Shiro, he called him a random "shitty old man"

One moment I haven't seen talked about before is when Rin returns to the current time to convince Yukio to ditch the Illuminati. And as soon as Yukio tells him that he never planned on joining the Illuminati in the first place, and it was all a ruse to destroy them from the inside, Rin's immediate response is "oh! awesome! Let's go home then"

Like it's funny in and of itself, but it also very clearly showcases Rin's overall feelings for Yukio. No matter what Yukio does or says, Rin will always love him and want to be with him.

Quite genuinely I do not think he can conceptualize a world where Yukio is not with him. I do think his affection for Shiemi is very real and sweet but I also think he would ditch her to save Yukio's life in a heartbeat. Even when Yukio was goading his demon side to kill him, Rin was still seeing his brother through a loving lens - albeit a murderous loving lens, but a loving lens nonetheless.

When he's gained the upper hand and is about to kill Yukio, he even frames it as a kind gesture. Yukio wants to die so Rin will give him what he wants because he is his older brother and he loves him. He doesn't care about the world - he just cares about Yukio. And if this is what he wants, then alright.

And before that, when Rin is arguing with himself, his demon side points out is that Yukio doesn't want to go back with Rin, that he doesn't want him. And Rin very clearly cannot handle that concept, which is why his demon side is able to take control.

He stops himself because Yukio voice that his life has no purpose, no value. But Rin loves him more than anything and would fight to protect him no matter what. His value and his purpose is being Rin's brother, for the two of them to be together at the end of world.

I really really do think for Rin there is no world without Yukio.

It's incredible the amount of plot holes in Danny Phantom that are easily fixed if only the plot were a little darker.

Like Tucker's fear of hospitals and doctors from Doctor's Disorders, for example.

To be precise, the fact that Danny had apparently no idea that Tucker goes downright catatonic whenever he passes in front of the nurse's office as a result of his fear of anything medical related but Sam did. Especially since Danny and Tucker have known each other for as long as they've known Sam, if not longer.

If the plot were a little bit darker/more mature and didn't shy away from heavy topics like human mortality or that Danny actually died in the accident and came back to (half) life, this would all have a very simple explanation.

Danny didn't know about Tucker's fear of hospitals because it's a recent thing, while Sam does because she was there when it happened.

In other words, if you ask me, Tucker could have developed his fear after Danny's accident. After spending who knows how long inside a hospital waiting for news of his best friend's recovery, with each passing second spent there being a constant reminder of the possibility that Danny might not make it. Thus, his fear would be a result of anything medical reminding him of those agonising times and of the fear he felt at the idea of losing his best friend forever. And Sam would know about it but not Danny because she was right there by Tucker's side as they both waited while Danny was being treated and remained unaware of the world going on around him.

And just like that, you fix a plot hole, and add layers to the story, the characters and their interpersonal dymanics in one fell swoop.
