Celebrating a year with this picture I took of Jennifer Celine from Washington D.C!

This was a shoot I did for DJ Crykit’s event on Breast Cancer Awareness Day. #breastcancerawareness. I couldn’t have thought of a better person to ask than a friend who actually marked her three year anniversary of being cancer free April 26th. I wanted to keep this honest and share a story of someone who struggled with breast cancer and SURVIVED it. I submitted this picture to many magazines, but sadly in their own way they said it was too dark and they couldn’t proceed sharing my picture for a special event but “ try again next time”. With that experience I had with this beautiful image I decided to take matters into my own hands and go back on Tumblr to share this picture on my own. Here is my great beautiful friend Brandy! I chose black instead of pink to show that it WAS NOT an easy thing to go through and actually a big process. With many of  my family and friends who have cancer and have died from it I also related to this dark period and wanted to share that it was not fun for them and it is to be taken seriously. The glitter on her eyes represent that dark period for her and how  she made it to the light at the end of the tunnel , what we all celebrate as a pink celebration. She wears her scar strong and proud and is here to share and relate to other cancer survivors. It is what I call a beauty mark  and another symbol of life. <3 Sincerely, Stina
