Thousand Autumns is so special to me because in a market saturated with they-met-before and soulmate tropes (which I adore, don’t get me wrong), we get to see Yan Wushi and Shen Qiao choose each other. They had zero interaction before they meet in book one. They’d heard about each other, they respected each other’s skill, but they’d never had an actual conversation.
And when they do, they don’t get along. Their relationship in the first two books is funny because it’s terrible. Most of their interactions are bitching to/about each other. They’ll get along for a chapter or two; and then Yan Wushi will inevitably do some dastardly evil business, and Shen Qiao will be heartbroken and go beat the shit out of some guys about it.
The thing is, they’re incapable of leaving each other alone. Yan Wushi originally because he wants to “corrupt” Shen Qiao (Like okay gay boy you wanna turn him to the “dark side.” Sure), but eventually because Shen Qiao is the only person he actually respects. He can’t corrupt him. He can manipulate him, and Shen Qiao will keep falling for it; but he’ll keep falling for it because he’s simply unable to stop seeing the good in humanity.
Shen Qiao originally tries to leave Yan Wushi alone. He doesn’t particularly care about this guy that keeps showing up and spouting dark side nonsense, he has bigger issues to worry about. But as he’s dealing with those issues; the guy keeps showing up, saving him, treating him to a nice meal, and then doing some dark side nonsense. Shen Qiao wants to leave Yan Wushi alone, except the more time Yan Wushi shows up, the gladder Shen Qiao is to see him.
Shen Qiao will bend but never break, and Yan Wushi will break before ever bending. And yet Yan Wushi bends for Shen Qiao, and Shen Qiao breaks for him. They’re two people that learned how to walk separate paths, together. Never once - after Yan Wushi gives up his “corruption” plot - did they ask each other to change who they were.
Thousand Autumns is the enemies-to-lovers danmei, because it’s all right there. Everything that their relationship is, we see on the page. No childhood connection, no magical fated-ness. They orbit each other because they choose to; because despite their separate paths, they respect each other. They see balance and challenge in each other.
There’s something really lovely about that.

I'm watching the Thousand Autumns donghua and I'm already half way. So far so good! Here are some points I can conclude having watched half way:
1. A-Qiao is an angel
2. Yan Wushi is DILF
3. So many non-sex YanShen scenes that are very sexy very hot very tense that made me think to myself that them kissing would've been LESS gay
4. Bai Rong is smoking hot but her crush is gay

All According to Plan
by pupeez4eva
T, 6k, Wangxian
Summary: Lan Wangji finds himself temporarily stuck in his younger body, years in the past. Not knowing how much this would affect his own timeline, decides to mimic his younger self’s behaviour to the best of his ability. Predictably, pretending that he can’t stand Wei Wuxian proves to be virtually impossible.

LWJ: I have just sent a message to my wife.
Villain 1: what? You’re married? That wasn’t in the plan.
Villain 2: tch. Doesn’t matter-!
*minor explosions in the distance. Creepy fog crawling across floor. Flash of a talisman*
WWX: Er-gege!! Your wife is here!
LWJ: Wei Ying.
*wwx glowers at villains with glowy red eyes*
WWX: how dare you make my Lan Zhan frown!!
*villains hideout collapses*
Villain 1: the Yiling Patriarch!? You said they were friends!!
LWJ: wife. Not friend.
*wwx swoons in the background*
WWX: Lan Zhannnnn!
An adventuring party is in a cage suspended over acid the wizard clears his throat "I just sent a message to my wife she should be here to save us soon." "Wait your married?" Said the rouge "more importantly what is she gonna." The paladin is interrupted by a massive explosion.

I like how mxtx was kind of toeing the line of debauchery with Wei Ying; he's good, he's just a misunderstood genius and he's not terrifying, in fact he's very pure hearted. And then she writes Hua Cheng who's just a nightmare personified. He tells people to kill themselves as a joke (he's in fact quite serious), challenges authority and destroys property, has a SM relationship with his weapon. Everyone's scared of him and there's no purity of heart there. He's legitimately criminally-inclined. He runs a gambling den btw. He's very unapologetic about it and even happily weaponizes people's prejudice against him. He IS emo and gay and antisocial. He IS obsessive over ONE guy. He IS blood thirsty. So what? That's him. That's the main character's love interest. And this IS a romance.

As someone who plays DnD, let me break down what’s going on with the mxtx characters:
SQQ is an example of what happens when someone puts all their points into Charisma and uses wisdom as a dump stat.
WWX is what happens when someone puts all their points into intelligence and never bothers to roll an insight check.
Xie Lian is what happens when someone has a character with fantastic stats, but cannot roll above a 5 to save their life.

tgcf x Epic crossover!
I could not get Xie Lian out of my head when listening to No Longer You - it fits so well and so much could be interpreted in different ways ahhhh
In my hc this is like pre-ascension/early first ascension

The sequel to Never Forget, Never Forgive is here!
Paper Memories (Part One)
(idk why tumblr didn't want to post the link properly but whatever)
Rating: T (Part Two will be bumped to E)
Ships: Hua Cheng/ Xie Lian (+ crumbs of the other main ships)
Characters with PoVs: Xie Lian, Hua Cheng, Shi Qingxuan, Feng Xin, Lang Qianqiu, He Xuan, Mu Qing, Yin Yu, Jun Wu, Mei Nianqing
Fic Tags: AU - Canon Divergence, POV Alternating, Established Hua Cheng/Xie Lian, Hua Cheng and Xie Lian Invented Love, Mystery, Adventure, Fluff, Angst, Hurt/Comfort, Panic Attacks, Amnesia, Xie Lian Needs Therapy, Hua Cheng Has Self-Esteem Issues, Shi Qingxuan Needs a Hug, He Xuan is Bad at Feelings, Original Character (villain), Minor Character Death(s)*, Warning: Jun Wu, Feng Xin and Mu Qing are Bad at Communicating, except its mostly with Xie Lian, MQ gets more of the limelight in Part Two.
(*If this tag scares you, DM me and I will just tell you who it is. I don't want it to be the reason you don't read.)
If you're stumbling upon this fic randomly, I would encourage you to read the first parts in this series first, starting with Never Forget, Never Forgive.
This story is already fully written/ illustrated. Expect updates on Wednesdays!
Chapter 1 / 20 "Masters of Disguise"
PoV/s: Mei Nianqing, Hua Cheng
This fic begins where NFNF left off, which is basically at the Mount Yujun mission, but I promise this won’t be a one-for-one retelling of TGCF. I will have a little fun toying with some of the early canon story beats in Part One like this and the Mid-Autumn Festival Banquet. By Part Two it will grow into something very different. Enjoy the lighthearted shenanigans while you can.
Also ty @illuminatedferret & @mikkeneko for being my beta readers! I know it's a lot I owe you a blood debt.
