New Year. New Problems.

Summary: Your friends Isabella and Peter are just trying to look out for you. But what if it gets you stuck in a love triangle with best friends. Do you pick the guy next door or the one you’ve known since day one?!

A/N: I am back humans! It feels nice to finally be writing again! To have my inspiration back in my grasp! I hope you guys enjoy this series! 

I laid silently, staring at the ceiling.

“New Year. New Me…” Repeated itself in my head. Like it needed to be my main focus or something. Main focus to what? It’s not like i wasn’t already trying to work on myself. But that damn text. Stupid Isabella.

I: I think you should really focus on, i don’t know, finding someone spend your life with..? You’ve already got the dream job. A place to live.

M: Full of Superheros, keep that in mind!

I: All i am saying is, if it be one of those superheros, you shouldn’t have spend your life alone.  You Deserve a significant other. We all do.

M: What if i’m not ready?

I: We aren’t all ready…

M: I always learned to never go looking for love. To let it come to me. Or it will just happily be ripped away from me. Like everything else was.

I: You know i will always have your back, Y/N. Let me help you! At least get your flirting game back up. Flirt with the guys a little. See how they react to it. What makes them cringe and what gets them pulling you into empty hallways. If you know what i mean…

I roll my eyes at her last message. I never get why she doesn’t like so alone. It’s my life. I don’t feel like she should be the one telling me when to find love. I don’t care if she’s engaged. Some of us are happier in our choices not to settle down just out of College. I do not feel like i am missing out on something. Like i’m not getting in on the inside jokes. Like i -

“Ow…” I groan out as my phone slips down onto my face. A soft chuckle leaves Bucky’s mouth as he looks down at me. I huff, looking up at his blue eyes and smiling face.

“You good Darling?” He asks. I nod my head as i return to my screen. Bucky makes a good pillow till he shifts his leg.

“Hey!” I huff out as i am forced to sit up. He gives me a sorry look before rearranging his leg to a comfier position.

“Sorry. Your head becomes a dead weight to the point where it’s hurting my leg. I just needed to shift is all.” He says as he pats his lap. I place my head back where it once came and lay once more.

“Bucky. Do i seem like a super lonely person to you?” I ask, looking back at him. He keeps his eyes fixed on his book.

“No… You have us after all!”

“No. I mean romantically?! My friend thinks i am super lonely and that i should go looking for love. But if i have learned anything from love, is not go looking for it. Let it happen. But no one seems to agree with me. Everyone thinks i should force it till i find the right one. But i don’t want too. I want to wait till the right one comes along. Why let my heart get broken so much just so i’m not labeled lonely?!”  

“And what if you’ve already met the one? But you aren’t willing to open yourself up to them?” I sigh at his answer as his eyes trace the page before our eyes meet. His eyes soon tracing my face. Looking for an answer i am yearning for. “Kathryn. I can’t give you all the answers. But i know that you are a lot smarter than you give yourself credit. If this is what you want. How you really feel, then it will be. Just don’t let your pride keep you from actually letting love in. Don’t go proving a point to everyone and get completely lost. You’ll push yourself into the cycle of heartbreaks doing that. Keep an open mind.”

“You’re right bucky. This is why i love you. You’re the best friend any girl could ask for. Someone will pick you up some day!” i say as i stand up. I kiss his cheek quickly and hurry out the room. Bucky sits quietly for a second before a soft cough resonates through the room.  

“Smooth man…” Peter says as he makes his way to the couch across from him. Bucky looks at him before shutting his book and standing up. “You won’t win her that way.”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about Parker.”

“Oh come on. I know you think i am child. But i am 25 now. Engaged. Let me help you out.”

“And why should i?”

“Because i have been watching you crawl after Y/N for years now. Ever since she joined our team as Silk. We work tightly together man. We talk. I can easily help you get an upper hand in winning her over. Obviously let the time do it’s greatest job. But let me give you the kickstart you clearly need.”

“What do you want in return Parker?”

“Nothing. As long as you’ll finally stop picking on me and be happy.” Bucky stares at Peter as he reaches his hand out to him. Bucky hesitates before meeting him and shaking his hand slowly.

“You mess up everything for me, even our friendship, i will ruin you.” Peter just smiles and stands up.

“I will talk to you Later Bucks.” Peter says as he walks past him and in the direction i went in.

I round the corner to my bedroom before i hear my name being called from down the hall. I turn to Steve jogging after me. I smile at him as he smiles back sweetly at me. He soon gets closer, me getting shocked at his size.

“Never changes does it?” He asks, noticing my step back from him.

“You’re just so.. Big.” He chuckles at my choice of words. I blush slightly from his gorgeous laughter. “So whats up?”

“I wanted to ask you out for some coffee! I could use your brains for some things and i would love to catch up with you.” He says, reaching out for my arm. He rubs it gently as i feel my knees getting a bit weak. I gulp a tad nervously as my eyes train down to his fingers.

“Sure! I think it would be a lot of fun! Plus i am a huge coffee drinker.”

“So i have noticed. I figured you would know some really coffee places around me. Do you have any recommendations for us to go to? Or why not we just try them all?”

“Hold your roll.” I giggle out as i reach out to touch his arm as well. “I have a really nice place i think we should try out for sure. I will send you the location. Tomorrow morning 10 am?”

“Sounds like a date to me. Goodnight, Y/N”

“Goodnight Steven.” I say as we wrap around each other in a nice hug. Wow, does he smell amazing. We stand for a few more seconds before i decide to pull away from him. “Bye.”

Steve turns around and starts back down the hallway. Barely turning the corner before running into his best friend, Literally.

“Bucky.” He yelps as he tries to stop himself.

“Sorry Steve.” Bucky mumbles as he backs up a little. “What were you and Y/N talking about?” Steve smirks and rubs the back of his neck.

“I was finally asking her on a date! Her friend Isabella was telling me how she has had a crush on me and i thought i would give a date a try. She is a beautiful person after all.” Bucky stands in shook as he looks Steve up and down.

“You have got to be kidding me!” Bucky groans as he rubs his face.

“What?!”

“Peter told me to finally go after her! And now with you in my way!!!”

“Well, may the best man win!”
