Interest groups and PACs
1. National
a.Climate Hawks
b.Our goal remains to elect climate hawk leaders. Who prioritize and speak on the climate crisis.
c.-We don’t tolerate elected officials and candidates taking money from tobacco companies who profit from human suffering and death
- we shouldn’t tolerate them taking money from coal, oil, and gas companies whose business plan is to cook the planet.
-Climate change is the greatest challenge facing ours and future generations, not just another Democratic issue, but too many politicians are afraid to talk about it.
-Our statement on Trump's hammy portrayal of Hamlet on world stage: Booo. "Trump still undecided on Paris agreement"
-Waffling on carbon pollution and voting for fossil fuels should be as unacceptable as voting against a woman’s right to choose.
D. Dakota pipeline.
E. Does not have a headquarters. No meetings near me.
F. Yes. It varies.
G. Their mascot is a hawk.
2.State:
a.California Environmental Justice Alliance
b.“The California Environmental Justice Alliance is a statewide, community-led alliance that works to achieve environmental justice by advancing policy solutions. We unite the powerful local organizing of our members in the communities most impacted by environmental hazards low-income communities and communities of color to create comprehensive opportunities for change at a statewide level.”
c.The California Environmental Justice Alliance is working to advance an equitable climate policy that ensures direct emission reductions in communities most impacted by climate change. They wish to meet their greenhouse gas reduction goal by 2030. They also are working with low income communities to bring them access to renewable energy, using their investment money. Renewable Energy for All, Expands renewable energy and increases savings for low-income customers. Improves and provides equity focus to the Green Tariff Shared Renewables Program established by SB 43 by expanding available megawatts for shared renewable energy projects located in environmental justice communities. They also control the Hazardous Waste control which oversees any use or handling of hazardous waste.
d.Currently, they are hiring an Executive Director to handle more of the political spectrum.
e.CEJA’s Executive Director will be based in our Oakland, Los Angeles, or Sacramento offices. Wherever based, the position requires approximately 30% of the ED’s time to be spent travelling to represent the organization.
f.On the website there is a tab that says ‘take action’, where you can sign up to petiton around, and get more people to donate.
g.I find it interesting that this interest group is trying to advance equitable carbon pricing. I feel as though it is a great idea, but it may not be able to achieve it in our current time with the President we have.
3. Opposing Interest Group
a.United Mine Workers of America
b."The United Mine Workers of America is a growing union with a diverse membership that includes coal miners, clean coal technicians, health care workers, truck drivers, manufacturing workers and public employees throughout the United States and Canada. Political Party Action blog #7
1. Republicans: Do believe in climate change (most of them) However do not believe it is a pressing matter and they think it is not human caused problem
Democrats: Believe in climate change and understand the severity of the matter. They are pushing for the use of renewable energy(probably because they are not back by Big Oil companies).
Libertarian: They understand the climate change is happen and believe that a unregulated market with help advance solar and renewables
Peace and Freedom: The want to outlaw all environment hurting practices like fracking and clear cutting. They understand the importances of our environment and climate.
2. The only positions that I agree with are the peace and freedom. this because they want to take action now. Not have a slow gradual transition like the democrats.
3. I identify the most with the libertarian. This didn't really surprise me. I would vote that way if they were competitive because of this I will probably vote democrat.

EXECUTIVE ACTION ASSESSMENT OF ISSUE
Trump Is an outspoken Climate change denier. He is back by big oil companies, so he isn’t to concerned with the environment. He not for renewable energy, he believes they will destroy our economy. He doesn’t plan on changing any of his policies in favor of climate change.
2.I do not believe that climate change is a hoax, so I disagree with his stance.
3.Environmental protection agency and Interior
4.“Our mission is to protect human health and the environment” This relates because for the environment and humans to be healthy, climate change can’t happen
5.There is no mention of climate change on the EPA website.
6.Personal I am not satisfied with the current website and level of urgency regarding climate change. It took me a while to find anything

THE LEGISLATIVE BRANCH
2a) There are some bills that pertain to my topic.
2b) 999
2c)A bill to amend the outer continental shelf lands act to permanently prohibit the conduct offshore drilling in the mid atlantic, south atlantic, north atlantic and the straits of the florida planning area.
2d) it will decrease the need/production of oil with renewables hopefully taking the place.
2e) I would vote yea because the bill if passed would help incentivice people to switch to a more renewable source of energy. It also limits the power of big oil companies.
2f) The bill has not gone anywhere. It was introduced through the senate and has been reviewed by the senate committee for oil energy and natural resources.
2g) I fell like there could be more push for more legislation pushing renewable energy, better agriculture systems and stricter emission standards.

State Action
1)
a. I emailed Katherine Baker. Steve Glazer Incorporates environmental protection as part of every decision. He also is a lifelong environmental advocate, he led efforts that raised hundreds of millions of dollars to permanently protect open space in California and 25 other states.
b. I agree with Senator Glazer’s belief because it pushes for environmental protection which is key for reducing climate change.
c. (Glazer) – RainWater Capture System Property Tax Exclusion – This measure, if passed by the Legislature and approved by a majority of voters, would authorize the Legislature to exclude from classification as “newly constructed” the construction or addition, completed on or after January 1, 2018, of a rainwater capture system.
2)
a. SCA 9
b. January 1, 2018
c. That it was past
d. I like the introduction of the bill because it will give people the incentive to save water. I would encourage my senators to support this because it will help not only california’s drought but also climate change.
3)
a. Coral Bleaching on The Great Barrier Reef
b. Ben Westcot
c. Warm waters caused a massive coral bleaching in Australia
d. The intended audience is the average person.
e. There was no bias with this article only facts about the event
f. The most significant thing about this article is that this coral bleaching happened again only 12 months before. This gave the reef no time to recover.
g. I agree that human based climate changes cause the corals to die.

Constitutional Issues
1.Massachusetts v. Environmental Protection Agency
2.2010
3.Twelve states and several cities of the United States brought suit against the Environmental Protection Agency to force that federal agency to regulate carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases as pollutants.
4.Did the EPA (a federal agency) have the right to regulate states.
5.10th Amendment
6.In Favor of Massachusetts
7.This gives the right of air emissions to the individual states
8.I do not agree with the decision. The time for action is now and the more conservative states are going to have a huge affect on the global carbon emissions

1)Everyone is affected by climate change. However the people and businesses in the US that will be affected the most are the ones that are closest to the coast. Our shorelines will begin to recede towards the land.
2) In most cases there is no resolution for rising sea levels and it will just have to be excepted. However in low lying city near the coast like Miami a solution is needed bad. Miami has implemented pumps and raised some of its streets to combat the recent rise in sea level.
3) Cleaner lifestyles by US citizens.
4) More Electric cars models and factories. Also all energy would need to be produced in a clean fashion.
5)Many state like California have given tax breaks for people who drive electric cars or have solar panels on their homes.
6)Some say progressing the economy. Another would be certain luxury we americans take for granted.
7)The issues of climate change in my opinion should surpass any current moderately important problem and be taken care of with in the next 10-20 years. If not there will be chaotic times for the next few generations.
8)Donald Trump says the Chinese.
9)May electric car and clean energy companies would benefit immensely from the solution.
10)This issue is indeed the result of an externality. Fossil fuel companies knew what was going on with CO2 emissions and the silenced the data.
11)Climate change is currently being “resolved” by government spending that was decide on at the Paris Climate Agreement last April.

Scientists are planning their own march on Washington
The Scientists’ March on Washington is still in its early stages of development, but it already has its own logo, website, Twitter account, and a rapidly growing Facebook group, where more than 140,000 people have already joined.
The march is for “anyone who uses and values these tools for understanding the world, not just professional scientists.”
