In my head: ah! The archaic form of the letter s! Being a casual scholar of linguistics myself I am well aware that though it resembles the letter f in modern typography in fact it is phonetically identical to s! How foolish it would be to stumble into such a simple lexiconical pitfall!

I think there must be something wrong with me (...well, a different thing, there's already a number of things wrong)

I'm loving having days be short, it's great around the winter solstice when there's like nine and a bit hours of daylight

My mood fucking plummets when there's lots of daylight, in fact, one walk midday on a sunny summer day is my sunlight for the week

...I should never visit some latitudes during summer there, I'd probably do very poorly if there was a stretch of time where it was never truly night

english's pronunciation rules are absolute bullshit poopoo made up crap but one of my favorite side effects of this in written english specifically is like. altering the spelling of a word in such a way that it's technically pronounced the same. but reads very differently when your eyes go over it in written form. and that sort of dissonance between the proper spelling and the altered spelling producing the same basic sounds in your brain creates an unprecedented level of comedy.
