Day 1 The view out of our back window the morning we left for the #stennaline ferry from Harwich to the Hook of Holland. We had stayed at the Bricklayers inn after a mega 6.5 hr journey and an hour long diversion. We arrived at 11.15pm to meet the land lady Liz ( aka jolly Holly hockey sticks ) who I had had a very funny conversation with on the phone trying to find the pub after being diverted many many miles !! She told me all about the fact she had golf in the morning but that she would be caddying and she doesn’t usually do that… and so it went on. Couldn’t wait to meet her and she didn’t disappoint. After a pint, some amusing chat with a Norwegian couple and Liz and a FREE glass of Remy to boot ! ( yum ! ) we went to bed tired and happy. In the morning we kinda both woke with a start at 6am and Mike instantly went to start the van. As soon as she wouldn’t start I remembered that we had left the fridge switched to battery power over night. Disaster had struck, Eddy was dead. Mike ran into the middle of the car park, with 45 mins to get to the ferry for check in, we were in trouble. He screamed “ we’re gonna miss the ferry !!!! “ and ran off in to the distance. 😂 I immediately ran to our neighbours camper and started banging on the door. A Swedish dude opened the door bleary eyed and I gestured jumping the van with a desperate look on my face. He pointed at the sky and said “ Ah ha…maybe ! “ This sounded hopeful. I went back to the van, tried to open the door and had BLOODY LOCKED MYSELF OUT !!!!!! I ran in the direction Mike ran off in to try and see if he had the keys… please have the keys, please have the keys !!!! I prayed. I saw him running towards me. He had the keys and a man in a car with jump leads. At 6 in the morning !!! Some one was looking out for us there 😊 we got her started and made our way to the ferry. Wow !!
