WAIT I DIDN’T REALIZE IT WAS A FULL CROSSOVER!! omg. i thought this was just like… an aa au with p5 mechanics, which is where my thoughts were coming from. but with that context, YES i absolutely agree on the maya bit!!

so to clarify… would the og phantom thieves still be around? and then would it just be that some of the aa characters have personas and occasionally investigate/work with them? or do the aa characters totally replace the og phantom thieves? i’m so intrigued by maya getting her persona so early…

as for phoenix’s palace, i REALLY like the museum idea, and the temple. i also really like the idea of it being a theatre? maybe this is just my love for the headcanon of phoenix being a shakespeare fan, but i think that could be really cool. different skits in the theatre could show his interpretation of like… scenes that had an impact on him. and to him, he’s the villain in everyone else’s stories, almost?

ace attorney x persona 5 royal crossover that i spent HOURS writing notes about like a mad scientist

so first off to simplify p5 lore/jargon A LOT personas r their manifestations of rebellion/conviction, palaces are how distorted they view something to be, palace rulers are the person whose desired are twisted and how they see themselves cognitively (ie like a bully seeing themselves as the king of the school, so the school would be distorted to be their kingdom) (hopefully this makes sense)

phoenix

okay i dont think phoenix would have a persona, he already has strong conviction in court, no i believe he has a palace due to his guilt about edgeworth aa2 and 1-4, since id imagine hed ||feel he is responsible for edgeworths “suicide”|| and also his savior complex and guilt

phoenixs palace would be a temple, more specifically based off a mayan temple since they have sacrifices/ offerings to the gods. id imagine he believes edgeworth to be the sacrifice to trying to save him from the judicial gods.

phoenix himself would be the priest basically conducting the sacrifice bc as much as he has a savior complex, its not so much god, its more like him guiding people given his job, and he feels responsible for mistakingly sacrificing edgeworth or smth like that

the place that would be distorted for him is probably his office, but the detention center is also a good candidate i considered. other options for the palace itself included a cathedral with a crypt or the catacombs

i mainly thought hed be a ronin from the basis of yk, the steel samurai being his sign of rebellion (im a genius ik) but ronin are historically similar to samurai but technically work under no master (theres gonna be a lot of 1-4 refs here) but are also seen as disgraced in a way from society

his persona after much research was prob musashi (specifically miyamoto musashi) who was a ronin and funnily enough, has a story where he dueled this one guy, kojiro i believe, and albeit some accounts may vary, one states he was hit in the shoulder and then hit in head which killed kojiro and like… mvk much

his outfit would be again, similar to a ronin with some steel samurai elements in between, and his weapon would be a bokkun like the one musashi uses to kill kojiro in the story (i will be designing these later!!)

mayas i had the toughest yet absolute blast to work with

her person is Nephthys, the egyptian goddess of the mummy and night. this is because she is also the god of temples and magic and temples. shes also considered the “head of house” bc she works in a trio responsible for yk, spirits.

trust me i have NOTES on this one. other options i considered was pythia the oracle of delphi for apollo, cassandra from greek mythology who was another oracle, and shivu, the hindu god of spirituality.

another thing that took me a while to decide, her weapon. i ultimately decided on a javelin since its similar to a spear, like the steel samurai AGAIN.

her costume is majorly inspired by egyptian priests, i would like to point out the ANIMAL SKIN they wear which is badass, but also from heptat, who was another oracle egyptian priestess

and thats all!! if you havent figured it out by now i do have a whole timeline im making based off how i said phoenix has a palace but im still working out all the kinks in that

also costume designs will be coming theater near you, soon, probably, hopefully

hi op i love this SO much!!! as a long time fan of both aa and p5r, this goes so incredibly hard. i truly screamed aloud when i saw this come up on my dash. oh my GOD!! my TWO FAVES!!!

and it made me think a LOT. i am writing this in a sleep deprived haze so pls excuse any spelling errors or if i’m nonsensical in any way

in my heart, i feel like phoenix’s palace would be the penultimate battle in a theoretical persona/aa au. i’m picturing it similar to sae’s palace in the game— maybe he’s lashing out at others in a way that’s uncharacteristic, and/or trying to fix things about his relationships (cough edgeworth) that others don’t interpret as needing to be fixed. regardless, something from his past is haunting him and causing him to act this way

now i think maya might know about personas, at least theoretically thanks to her connection with the spiritual, but edgeworth would have to be shown how to access the metaverse. but honestly, i don’t think either of them would necessarily want to pry and enter phoenix’s palace themselves. yes, in aa 1-3, maya probably wouldn’t hesitate to enter phoenix’s palace… but i also don’t know if phoenix’s state would escalate to the point of him having a full-blown palace during that time.

post seven year gap, to me, would be when he would need to face himself properly. to some extent, i feel like the creation of a person’s palace involves their own faults. his total loss of dignity/conviction due to his failed savior complex and overwhelming guilt after trucy’s case would probably be the lead up to his palace’s creation.

post aa3, i don’t think maya would be available enough to even see the formation of his palace. edgeworth would be available, but without maya there to show him the metaverse, he wouldn’t really know what to do!

but you know who would be in phoenix’s life post aa3, would get to see his seven-year crashout in real time, AND has her own connection to the spiritual and magical?

trucy freaking wright!!!

to me— and PLEASE give ur input on this, because op, your personas are much better researched than mine will/would be— i feel like trucy’s persona might be something fairytale/literature-related. my vision is that it’s a way to tap into the childhood she didn’t really get to embrace. i’m thinking the jabberwocky from lewis sinclair’s poem, because of how nonsensical and magical it is, yet brutal. or maybe little red riding hood? idk!

but i love the idea of trucy realizing she wants to help her daddy find himself again, especially since his lack of conviction and weariness is harming his relationships with others… in that sense, his palace is also kind of like futaba’s.

of course, she tries to talk to him first, but she’s a girl of action! entering his palace is the most effective way she knows how to help him, and maybe her morals after years of living with a chronic gambler are not… perfect. but she means well and she’s aware that there’s a lot more nuance to the situation than just good/bad, unlike a lot of other palaces. when trying to talk to him inevitably fails, she resolves to find his palace.

maybe she pulls apollo in for the ride, and they realize once they enter his palace for the first time that it, in fact, is much more layered than they realize. phoenix has DECADES of trauma and guilt that built his palace’s foundation. they cannot attack this alone— so she brings in the people she knows he is closest to.

maya is uncertain at first until some details trucy drops cause her to realize how big the palace really is; references to decades-old cases shouldn’t be part of it unless they’ve really impacted him. when she understands how deep it goes, she agrees to help because she knows how unlikely phoenix is to seek any kind of therapy/help for his problems.

but edgeworth is still uncertain. he doesn’t even believe that the metaverse is real, much less that he can enter it. and although he’s much healthier now, he still gets anxious about interfering too much in wright’s life. but he adores and trusts trucy, and it’s SO hard to say no to her.

i have this vision of trucy seriously discussing with him like. “mr miles. i have an idea for how u can help my daddy.” and hes like “yes trucy of course. i would do most anything to help ur father.” and shes like “okay.” (boop) (sends them both to the metaverse) “TRUCY. WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON.” truthfully it would be more complex and emotional than this. but i’m so tired and the thought of this makes me giggle
