"I'm very aggressive onstage," she observed, "and men don't usually like aggressive women...because the whole direction of man is to be strong. They usually like submissive women, or women who pretend to be submissive." - Betty Davis --- happy 70 to funk rock goddess sorceress, Betty Davis. you inspire so much of me + the world. --- . . . #SATE #BettyDavis #NastyGal #TheOGQueenB #BitchesBrew #WokeWarriorWitch

THIS WOMAN I KNOW, her name is SATE. Not only is she the lead vocalist in her band, she also acts, writes and composes music. When I decided I wanted to do this project I knew that I wanted SATE to be a part of it. I first met her after a set she played that I was shooting at The Bovine last June at NXNE. She blew me the fuck away! She was intense, she was fearless, she was sexual, she was powerful and she makes everyone who’s watching her feel that way too. She has many female influences including her mother, sister, daughter and various past and present friendships who she feels have changed her life. Her music is universal, however you identify you can relate to her songs. A song off of her new album, RedBlack&Blue called Know My Name is about the raw honesty of being in a place where if someone pushes your buttons, you’re gonna fight them, because maybe that person has not inflicted pain on you, but maybe they’ve done you wrong. It is a song about empathy and compassion. She wants to empower people, but definitely women to teach them to be fearless and to do what they are passionate and joyful about.
SATE is a beautiful, compelling Artist. It is an honour to know someone who is genuinely so wildly driven to follow their dreams and reach their goals.

I'm ready. As ready as I'll ever be, to share my baby with you all. It's the eve of the eve of June 10th, and I'm beyond excited to let this child run wild. There was a huge, incredibly talented and fearless group of warriors that put their blood, sweat and tears into helping me get to this day. From my perseverant and patient producer Tom [@exeter_sound_studios] to the disgustingly deadly musicians and singers that blazed all over the album to Vic and Phil for making the shit sound so damn gooood to my wickedly innovative image team for making me and the artwork look so damn good to my publicists, booking agents, interns, radio promoters to all the Pledgers to Canada's granting bodies and lastly, my incredibly supportive and relentless manager @davidclickcox. Warriors! On June 10th, please join me in celebrating the release of REDBLACK&BLUE. --- #SATE #REDBLACKBLUE #NEWalbum
