Marching band is so under appreciated

I've been in marching band for 4 years and over those 4 years I've noticed that marching bands are so under appreciated and I think this because, we spend hours upon hours working and perfecting our drill and the music only for people to not even acknowledge us. At my school our band isn't or is barely funded, we get looked over and ignored but we have 7 cases literally FILLED with awards while our football has barely any and they get recognition for everything. I understand that football is a big thing for high school sports but, that doesn't mean it should take the light from other things that deserve it just as much. This is just what I think but I'd like to know if anyone else feels the same way or differently.
