Rey and Zorii

The authors at Lukasfilm had choice of how to write Zorii in “Free Fall”. And in the end, she was made even more like Rey than she was before the book was released. Rey is almost a complete copy of Poe’s first love…

So, Rey and Zorii: • Both thin, athletic brown-haired women with greenish eyes and sharp facial features (just look at the actresses!) • Both ambidexters and good at handling almost all types of weapons, excellent hand-to-hand combatants. • Both are very quick-witted and quick to learn, and constantly impress Poe with whatever they do. • Both come from, well, the dark side: Rey is the Emperor’s granddaughter, Zorii is the daughter of a tough and bloodthirsty gang leader. • Both are prone to almost animal aggression when it comes to fighting and protecting friends. • Both are constantly withholding secrets from Poe, in both cases Poe was almost ready to sink to the level of eavesdropping behind them. • Both are very stubborn and like to argue with Poe, but both without question trust his decision at the right time. • In both cases there is / was a common droid: BB-8 for Poe and Rey, and EV-6B6 for Po and Zori. • Both are willing to do anything for their family. • Both met Poe at about the same age (Rey was 19, Zorii ~ 18), and the way Poe introduced himself to them was the same, scenes are too similar. • And they both saved Poe’s life more than once, and once they saved him from their relatives: Rey stopped the Emperor’s lightning on Exegol, which had almost killed Poe in his fighter, Zorii - SPOILER - saved Poe from her mother.

Well, there are quite a few coincidences between these two ladies.

But unlike Zorii, Rey is not so cruel and much more merciful. And she looks more like the ideal woman for Poe – like his mother Shara Bey and Leia Organa. And Rey, like Poe, is fighting for a higher purpose, not for the prosperity of her family and profit.

Family for Rey is the Resistance, Poe, Finn, BB-8 and Chewie. The family for Zorii is her gang, and she helped Poe because  he was the part of her family long time ago and, well, because Rey forced to help them lol.

Also, Rey was the only one (besides Poe) that Zori interacted with when meeting on Kijimi, and Poe and Rey were the only ones Zorii thought of after they flew away (TROS novel)

Lego Star Wars Holliday Special.

Okay, Damerey fam, I’ve just watched Lego Star Wars Holliday Special.

1. It’s not canon. So characters are out of characters. But it’s really fun!

2. Poe Zorii moment is not even a moment lol, it can be hardly called a kiss — Poe kissed her HELMET and it was pure joke-reference to TROS.

3. Poe was absolutely normal before Rey and BB-8 left. And after that he became catastrophic disaster — dude gets lost without Rey.

4. Damerey parallels again — Rey is a catastrophic disaster just like Poe.

5. Poe was happy to see Rey back and called her Jedi Party Master.

6. Tip-yip connection: Poe asked Rey to cook tip-yip, but she left, so Poe decided to do it himself and spoiled everything, later Zorii brought lots of tip-yip, and when Rey got back she said she smelled tip-yip. Tip-yip was the most important stuff for Poe and Rey was the only one he trusted to do it!

7. Poe is such a drama queen lol.

I don’t consider this Special seriously, so I didn’t expect anything magnificent for damerey. It just a story about importance of friendship.

But I bet Jedi Finn will be canon and Rey will train him, but everything will happen differently. We have post war times in canon, so will see what canon post TROS events will bring to us. But it won’t happen earlier than year or two.

Damerey in TROS

Poe pulled back on the yoke and skidded the Falcon for kilometers along a grassy plain, leaving a deep gouge behind it. Rey wasn’t pleased, though admittedly she couldn’t have done any better.

Poe wanted to start repairs with whatever the had, but Rey ARGUED the needed to find the wayfinder first. She led the droids, Finn, Chewie, and A RELUCTANT Poe out of the Falcon.

Lol, Rey’s commenting Poe’s pilot skills is the best thing! And they argued again! Poe and Rey have lots of tension like Han and Leia always had.

BB-8 warbled a question. “From the sky, Beebee-Ate,” Rey said.

Cute moment. It was like BeeBee asked Rey a question like kids do. He also does the same with Poe. Although BB-8 is damn smart, he turns into child with Poe and Rey.

In that scene Poe was the first to see Rey in the crowd. And his face…  BTW, in TLJ Poe also was the first to to see Rey when he left the cave towards Rey.

The way Poe takes Rey’s hand is special, it’s pure tenderness, and the way he rubs his thumb over her knuckles tells everything ❤️

Poe loves Rey more than friend.

Also look at second GIF, Rey pinchs Poe’s elbow with a hope, like she tries to reach him. And when Poe does the same, she happily closes her eyes and pinchs him again.

Also Rey’s right hand isn’t on Finn hand later (second GIF), it looks like she holds Poe’s back…..or his juicy butt lol (I’m kidding, but…)
