Not really happy with SSO at the moment. The Winter Village/Damaged Crystal is just ANOTHER stupid ass thing we have to grind for, and the rewards are NOT worth it, just like in Hollow Woods. Really puts a damper on the happiness the Winter Village usually brings.

As much as I love the Hollow Woods update am I the only one who's a bit confused why we never got an updated Silverglade Vineyard first? Like literally every other part of the Silverglade area got an update except for the manor. I understand if SSE wanted to focus on druid areas because of their importance to the plot but knowing their history of starting projects and then abandoning them later, I hope they haven't forgotten about the Vineyard

So according to spoilers, SSO can give us personal gardens, which NO ONE asked for, but not our own home or the ability to personalize our stables, which EVERYONE has asked for. Great.

The click/hit boxes for making the cake for the birthday event are really annoying. If you’re even slightly off, you grab the wrong thing and then have to run the time down and start over.

Kinda sad they changed Jessica to Jay solely bc Jessica is like the funniest name ever to say with pure hatred.
Like. Jessica. It’s so amusing.

(Shout out to Dorian for reminding me this quest exists) The dialogue where you talk to Alex after you chase after the Fripp apparition quest for newbies always annoyed me in how unnatural it sounds. On Alex's side, she just info-dumps all about being a soul rider to you, a random person she's never met before. On MC's side, you automatically take somebody telling you about a bunch of magic stuff 100% seriously and believe every word. Without the player's input, MC says they want to help. At least in the old storyline, as questionable as Thomas asking you, a random teen, to help take down GED is, you are gradually shown magic being real by seeing mysterious flaming hoofprints, then the nice boy who introduced you to your horse just up and leaves after reading a letter, then you see the baroness behaving strangely only to find out she was being mind controlled, so the realization that magic exists feels a lot more believable than a random stranger just dumping it on you. But hey, whatever lures in new players

With Camp Western coming to a close I'm kinda disappointed we never got an explanation for anything that was going on there. Idk if it was just me but the event where you can talk with Lisa and Josh ending with Lisa wondering what was causing the wolves to be so aggressive made me expect we were gonna get some sort of quest down the line finding out why. Or with the renegades they mention nobody knows where the chests were coming from and we still don't know. I hope if they bring Camp Western back next year we get some answers

I saw that in the latest 'Next Up on Jorvik' the Whinfells will be returning for the last time and I surprisingly got a little emotional when I read that??? I first got into SSO after watching a playthrough where the youtuber rode a Whinfell pretty often, and later on when I started playing myself the Morrigan Whinfell was the horse that made me decide to get Lifetime Star Rider so I could get one. It was the first horse I ever got besides my starter. Now I have every magic horse in the game, and it all started with the Whinfell. Ngl I don't think I really understood people who missed earlier Gen horse until now; I own them all but I'm gonna be sad to see the Whinfell go even though I agree it's time they got retired. Aideenspeed you funky little Shires!

I'm really loving the Wild West Camp so far and it's only the first week. So many things to do. Very much looking forward to the next updates.
However, because of the wolves around the Starshine Ranch any quests and soul riding near the place result in a loss of beast repellents or are straight up impossible to do. Oh I just love when new things break old stuff /s

I feel like some sso players don't realize how lucky we are to have a game that updates so regularly and has such an active community. I don't think I can remember in the last year an instance where there's been an update that hasn't garnered some kind of hate from the community.
Now, I'm not talking about the people who say "I don't personally like this update because-" or "This update negatively effected the game because-" or "I dont like the design/movements of the horse in this update because-". You are free to have and voice your opinion about the game, and it's good if we let SSE know what we dislike about the game and what we would like to see in order to help push the game in the right direction.
What I AM talking about is people who say "this isn't the star stable I loved!" Or "I'm going to quit sso because of this update." Or "This update ruined the game! SSE doesn't care anymore!!"
It's okay to be nostalgic about the old game and miss aspects about it. But never wanting it to change ever would just be holding the game back, which would cause people to complain again that the game isn't going anywhere and is dead.
Along with playing SSO, I also play Red Dead Redemption 2 Online and Team Fortress 2. The last major Red Dead update was July of 2021, after which the company withdrew development to work on another game. The last major Team Fortress 2 update was over 6 years ago. While TF2 is an older game than Star Stable, coming out 5 years before SSOs worldwide release, Red Dead only came out 6 years AFTER SSO. Both of these games have since dwindled and been forgotten about by the company behind them, despite still being fairly popular and making money for the company, possibly even more than Star Stable makes for SSE.
And yet, Star stable still outlived both of them. If anything, the frequency we get the updates, regardless of how small or big they are, and how long the game has lasted shows just how much SSE DOES care about Star Stable online. They could have easily dropped the game and moved on to other things, but they still maintain an active community and game while working on other projects. We are lucky that the game we love is still thriving and that the creators and company behind it are always trying to better the game.
I'm not saying don't voice your opinion about the updates or what needs to be fixed. But can we please stop jumping to "I'm going to quit the game cause this update ruined it" whenever we're unhappy about it? Unless the game is litterally unplayable, it isn't ruined. Yeah, it may be a pain in the moment, but it can be fixed. Horse gaits can be fixed. Glitches can be fixed. Npcs and quests can be fixed. But what can't be fixed is a game where the fandom and creators have given up on it.

I really wish SSO would fix the dang stirrups! Our feet aren’t in them on 90% of the horse breeds and it’s just so annoying, especially when taking pictures.

With this new character update suddenly I ran into a problem I never had before.... I want it all!!! I want the pink glossy lips that make my character look like a y2k barbie girl. I want the eyeshadow that makes them look like an alternative legend. I want the naturalistic look so I can live that cottagecore fantasy. I want all the hairstyles! Before I just stuck to one signature look but now I wanna experiment! But I only have so many star coins 😭

The reaction to the character update really makes me annoyed with how… capricious certain aspects of the fanbase can be. I remember seeing fans say they wanted breeding and saying SSE was too lazy/ not good enough/etc. to add it. Then when SSE announces they're thinking of implementing it (as they assumed fans wanted based off what they were saying) suddenly they're being greedy/ taking advantage of children/ etc. I don't mean people like myself who never wanted breeding in the first place, I'm talking about fans who wanted it but then make a 180 once it's actually on the table. Similarly, for years now I've watched players complain about how they wanted a character update, that the old model was ugly and that SSE was lazy/ not listening to their fans/ etc even though SSE assured us that they were working on it. Now that it's finally here all of a sudden they want the old characters back. I just wish the general opinion could be consistent for once. How are the devs supposed to know what we want and what direction to take the game when large portions of the fanbase can't make up their minds?

I wasn’t necessarily READY for the new characters, but they aren’t as bad as I expected. Of course they have their glitches, but they’re honestly not that bad at all.
