Ace / Aro visibility in Bojack Horseman! It’s great to not only see an ace main character in the show, but an entire ace community filled with people with different ace experiences. I like how the writers included a scene that explained some of the nuances of asexuality / aromanticism, as it helps break the stereotype that no ace would ever want to enter a relationship. One thing I would comment on is that asexual means “not experiencing sexual attraction” over “not interested in sex.” It’s possible to be a sex-positive asexual!

Reposting so I can find this again...
I had one of those sessions today that was just really powerful…talking about how being emotionally abused my whole childhood has made all interactions at least a little scary/full of self doubt. T: “do you feel self-doubt in here?”….Me: “yes” [starts crying entirely unexpectedly…emotions out of nowhere, my favorite]. My T almost always sits in silence for a while when I get more emotional so I just have to be uncomfortably present with my feelings, then asks if Im still feeling present, and if I’m not we do a grounding exercise.
Then later in the session she asked what I do to take care of myself after interacting with people and it was just one of those “does not compute” moments…I have always thought in terms of just needing to get better at social interactions and my feelings about them, but with that simple question she validated how hard it is for me and that it’s okay to need to recuperate and take care of myself after interactions that I think I should be fine with but still leave me feeling…not fine.

Every. Single. Session.
Me feeling more depressed than normal: I definitely need to talk about this in therapy this week.
Me when therapist asks what I need to talk about: Hmm, I don’t have anything specific

Me (as a child): why are all the songs about love?
Mom: someday you will understand
Me (now as an adult): seriously why are all the songs about love and sex this is ridiculous
