Few Days Left Until the End of the Year

Under the roof of the tent that has become our forced home, I sat reflecting on the days that have passed this year. The year 2024 was filled with hunger, cold, heat, and suffering beyond description. The sound of bombing became part of our lives, and the destruction of homes around us was a daily, relentless sight.

Next to me, Ghazal held her book, which has become her only window to another world, while Mido played with small pieces of wood, trying to build something that resembled a house. As for me, I carried within me one wish: “to live the coming year in safety”

I closed my eyes and imagined 2025 year free from fear, filled with peace I imagined us sitting in a real home, eating warm meals, and hearing the sounds of birds instead of the roar of planes.

But for now, all I have is this moment, and this hope that I refuse to let die I will wait for the new year, with everything it may bring, and dream that it will be different I dream it will bring peace for me, for my family, and for everyone who shares this weary land.
