The last thing Sora could remember was the sound of rain and wind howling against the window of her bedroom. She could hardly sleep with all that noise, but her parents would hardly speak to her let alone let her sleep on the small couch in their room. There wasn’t much she could do besides try to sleep off the anxiety that the windy night had brought on.

Her eyes closed, the taught weight of the thin sheet she used as a blanket slowly lulling her into a cold sleep, and then she was ripped out of it by an awful, crackling sound like the sky was screaming.

Sora shut her eyes tight, waiting, praying for the sound to stop. But instead more sounds just like it breached her ears. She got up and walked towards the window, her eyes caught sight of the expected rain, and a few sticks or leaves that had been caught in the wind. And then, strangely, she spotted a bus full of people with outrageous amounts of luggage drive past her window, followed by another, and another. 

She opened the window, soon realizing that those were buses of people evacuating imperium. Before she quite realized what she was doing, she stuck her head out of the window, her pink hair whipping her in the face until she held it behind her ears as she searched for what could have possibly been of so much concern that people were running away.

Her eyes landed on a stream of purple-pink light with cars and road signs floating within its confines. She followed the light with her eyes and saw a large rip in the sky surrounded by the magenta light. 

Sora moved quickly, slamming her window shut and running to her door, banging on it to no avail. Her parents never forgot to lock her door when she got home from school.

She backed away for a moment before bracing her shoulder and ramming as hard as she could into the wooden barrier. It gave way and Sora stumbled into the hallway, she quickly made her way to her parents room as she heard the sound of what she assumed to be another rip forming in the sky.

Her hands found the cold knob of her parents door and she threw it open.

The room was empty, drawers from the dresser were open and it seemed that her parents took whatever they could fit in a bag. They left her and evacuated.

She could hear another loud ripping noise, but instead of it being in the sky she watched as a blinding magenta light snaked through a crack that erupted through the floor right beneath her feet. Sora stepped back immediately, staring in horror as the floor crumbled and the magenta light opened into another rip.

The rip gave way into what appeared to be a gloomy alleyway. It felt like air was sucking her in, like a horrifying vacuum. She watched as the hole widened and sucked more of the floor in with it, she was running out of room.

Her hands found the soft fabric of a messenger bag, of which she pulled down with her when the segment of floor she’d been standing on gave out.

I think more people need to play around with Damian's speech. Don't get me wrong, I love the antiquated Victorian child style of speech, but also he's a teenager that swears plenty in the comics. We really need more scenes like:

Damian: Father, I regret to inform you that I have been assigned in-school suspension for the next three days.

Bruce: What, why?!

Damian: My classmate Kevin was disparaging a female classmate for turning him down, so I called him 'a rizz-less, basic-ass neckbeard bitch' and said I was going to fuck his mom and give her a son she'd actually love.

Bruce: *is completely speechless*

Damian: That is all I needed to tell you. If you will excuse me, I have homework to complete before dinner and patrol.
