Thanks @2-dsimp, I’ve never been one to get angry and tend to be more self-destructive as hurting other’s is one of my greatest fears, but I kept getting this result. Maybe I accidentally cause chaos? Idk, but the spilling over despite not wanting to be seen is… that part hits close to home and manifests as dark humour and lack of filter. I do get easily manipulated by others though so maybe I’m not the main villain, just an overemotional manipulated henchman. Who knows! Maybe I’d even switch sides in a happier story.

I’m at a middle ground with this one. I wholeheartedly agree that you should be there for your friends, but there is a bit of an extent? Idk why, but especially with teenagers people want to 1up other’s issues. I’ve had friends that anytime I tell them something’s wrong they’d tell me about how they have it worse. And you don’t have to be a therapist to be there for your friend, if they treat you like one and that’s all they ever talk to you about, then that is pushing a limit.

Still agree with this post, just want to add this so all the innocent little cookies out there are aware that friendship should go both ways and you shouldn’t have to give yourself 24/7.

i dont understand people’s perception of friendship anymore. do you only want to get to know people on a surface level? just for cute instagrammable moments? 

do you not care deeply about them and understand that they are complex human beings who experience a range of emotions?

your friend being vulnerable with you is not trauma dumping. you don’t have to be a grief counselor to be there for your friend while they cry about a loved one dying. or just a rough time they’re having.

i mean, do you only have deep discussions with a therapist and not friends or family? if so, that’s weird tbfh and not utilizing therapy properly.

it’s all so incredibly bizarre to me. everyone’s always talking about yearning and loneliness, but if a friend starts to cry about their dying grandma it’s like, “oop, girly i dont have the Headspace for that. here’s my discount code for betterhelp.com” weirdo shit tbh
