Am I not currently screaming at Joyce and Hopper to get together already? There's a lot of "not gay" in this show. So let us have this one. Let my boys be happy.

my biggest proof for byler is that out of all his friends that will could’ve had a crush on, it’s mike. and out of all his friends who have girlfriends, it’s mike who struggles the most with having one.

if the duffers wanted to write an unrequited love story, they could’ve make will fall in love with lucas, but have him rejected early on in season two or three when he started dating max, because he and max are solid.

they could’ve had will fall in love with dustin, then get rejected in season three when he got suzie. there were so many moments they could’ve made out of will not believing suzie was real only to get his heart smashed when he found out. that would’ve been absolute cinema and heartbreaking.

there were so many other roads to take and so many opportunities for the duffers to have will be rejected in the earlier seasons and get a nice heart-to-heart (“we’re just friends…best friends”), but they didn’t.

if byler weren’t canon, they wouldn’t have made will like mike specifically. if they wanted a healthy straight relationship to beat a gay, unrequited crush, they had two chances, and they didn’t take them. because that is NOT the story the duffers want to tell.

my stupid ass JUST realised that Jonathan heard both monologues in s4: wills AND mikes. thats why he looked so fucking pressed when mike opened his BITCH ASS mouth and started confessing his love to el by throwing wills words in her face

I'm someone who unfortunately, often lets details go unnoticed, so hearing the costume designer for s4 call this el outfit her "will look" just turned a switch in my mind, bc yeah it's pretty clear that eleven dresses herself differently in s4 compared to how she dressed in s3 but OMG, it's not just the clothes it's the hair too, everything about her reminds us of will. This scene with Mike between them it's crazy, it's like he's between the gender bent versions of the same person and now he has a choice to make iykyk....

In conclusion, once again, El's personal arc is about family more than romance and her relationship with Hopper seems to be what the writers are focusing on. Will's arc is about romantic love and his feelings for Mike. This kinda spells out how the ending of the love triangle, don't you think? Why would the writers focus on those two pairings in the last season of the show if Mike and El are supposed to be this endgame power couple? Why did Mike promise to be a team and to kill Vecna with his best friend who's secretely in love with him instead of his superhero girlfriend? Where exactly is the supposed "main couple of the show"?

no one has 300 slides proving that ted wheeler is gonna divorce karen for lonnie. or that jonathan is going to break up with nancy so he can be with argyle. & have you ever seen hour long video essays going through hopper and murray's relationship and screaming endgame!! endgame!!! he's not in love with joyce!!! because i haven't.

maybe u just hate that we wouldn't be doing this at all if mike acted different. if mike's actions were platonic we'd more than likely see them as platonic.

and THEN she puts her hand on his cheek for reassurance. she’s not leaning in for a kiss, she’s telling him it’s okay, you’re okay
