Yelena looked first to the granola bar she had taken a large bite of, and then to her sister. "It tastes really bad."
open starter for mutuals!
"what's with the face?" her hand gesturing to the expression in question.

the last thing i want is to see you get hurt.
"I am not going to get hurt." Yelena added a generous amount of snacks to the small black duffel bag she was packing. Yelena had figured that her sister would not be overly welcoming to the news that she had started to take contract jobs in-between widow rescue missions. Which is why she had only told Dad...who had clearly gone and told Natasha. She would need to have a word with him to remind him what 'don't tell Natasha' actually means.
"It is easy job. Easy money. You do not need to worry."

Yelena's confusion persisted. If nobody had asked Kate then why was this more awkward than usual? Before Yelena could say anything, Kate spoke and...oh. Now she understood. "I knew I should have gotten a card. I got you these chocolates because you are my friend and you are always hungry. If you wanted Valentine's sex I would join you. But we do not have to be a couple. That was not my intention."
“no! no, no one asked me.” kate stated with a shake of her head. always the one to ruin a moment with her overthinking malfunctioning brain. though she looked at her friend with a smile, attempting to be cool…calm…collected. which all of that was the total opposite of her. “normally people ask he other person to be their valentine for dating purposes..so…….i don't know if you mean that…”

As she chewed on another bite of her sandwich, Yelena pretended to think about her answer. She already knew the best people to contact first to pay a hypothetical ransom. Doing her research on Ana had been fun. Yelena chuckled at Ana's opinion of her worth. "I am pretty sure you are worth..." Yelena paused to think for a moment. "...ten million dollars."
Yelena moved to settle back into the chair she had been sitting in earlier. With her sandwich half eaten, Yelena leaned back and smiled. "Oh that is easy. Get one of those fancy metal suits. It is much harder to kill someone in one of those."
"Okay, so my father was Iron Man. Hypothetically, if someone were to kidnap me for whatever reason, who's gonna pay to get me back?" Pepper had Morgan to worry about. Sure, they were practically mother and daughter, but not nearly as close as they once were. Of the Avengers left Ana doubted any would risk their lives for her. "Not to be a negative Nancy, but I know my worth, and it's not much."
It was unnerving how calm Yelena was during this discussion. She was eating a sandwich while Ana slightly lost her mind. "So, what do you suggest I do aside from getting security, which I have no idea where to get."

Yelena stared up at Kate as the chaos of an alien invasion continued around them. "I owe you a drink for that one, Kate Bishop." Getting shot by some alien laser gun was not on her to-do list. The assassin got back to her feet and quickly reloaded her gun. "Do aliens just like New York or is there a reason for this attack?"
short open starter - kate either saved your muse, or your muse is helping her
why is it always new york? the city running rampant and kate pushed the other out of the way to safety. looking down at them, “you alright?” not even a second, she whipped around and shot an arrow at the alien that tried to attack.

PROMPTS FOR FOUND FAMILIES / ADOPTED FAMILIES * assorted dialogue, adjust as necessary, suggested by anonymous
you're the first person to ever take me seriously.
you understand me better than anyone else.
i don't know what i'd do without you.
just wanted to remind you that i care about you.
the last thing i want is to see you get hurt.
i feel like i belong here.
did you just call this a family?
this is the kind of life i always dreamed about.
thank you for taking me in.
i could get used to living in a place like this.
you feel more like family to me.
thank you for listening to me when no one else would.
should i call you mom?
should i call you dad?
i didn't really have a father figure growing up.
this is your room. you can decorate it however you'd like.
you're always welcome in my home.
no matter what, you can always count on me.
i'm grateful you found me when you did.
i've spent too much of my life alone.
you're part of this family now.
this is my home now.
i won't let anything happen to my family.
i'm going to take care of you.
no one's ever listened to me before.
is this what a family looks like?
you're the best friend i've ever had.
i'm your family now.
if they want to get to you, they have to go through me first.
is this what it feels like to belong?
maybe you should stick around for a while.
we'd take care of you, you know.
you don't have to go through this alone.
promise me you'll call.
you will always be welcome here.
this is your house, too.
i got this for you. it's yours.
keep it. i have more where that came from.
you make me feel special.
i've been alone for so many years.
i'm not used to being treated this way.
you can stay the night if you want.
we'll protect you with our lives.
you're like a brother to me.
you're like a sister to me.
you're the sibling i never had.
you took me in when no one else would.
i will never forget the sacrifices you made for me.
i've never had a room of my own. i always had to share.
i like this little family we've created.

Yelena piled a generous amount of deli meat onto a slice of bread and then topped it with a second slice. Not the best sandwich in the world, but it would do for now. "You are the daughter of an Avenger. You are not nobody." The assassin took a large bite of her sandwich, chewed, decided it was pretty good, and then made her way back towards Ana. "You may not have fancy suit of flying armor, but you are a good target."
She took another bite of her sandwich. "Your father made lots of enemies. Kidnapping you would be very easy. No security. Nice place. That is why there is a dead man in the dumpster outside."
"I don't have any security." Ana tugged nervously at the collar of her shirt. "I wouldn't even know who to talk to about that. It hasn't been something I thought about. I didn't think people would care about me enough to send a hitman." Growing up, she hadn't needed it because no one knew about her. That and her father was Iron Man, so that was security enough.
"This is insane. I haven't even done anything. I'm a nobody aside from being a Stark." Aside from Pepper and Morgan, she didn't have a family. The Avengers were her only friends, and only a few were left.

"Yes." Yelena closed the door to the refrigerator. "They had a pretty boring plan. Hide in your home and wait for you to sleep. Very uninspiring." Yelena found the sliced bread and started to make her sandwich. The assassin shrugged and looked over at Ana. "I think it was the last name. I am not sure. My job was to kill him."
A complete lie. Yelena had done all her research after accepting the job. She knew a lot about Ana. "You should hire better security."
Watching the other woman walk to the fridge and take out food felt like a fever dream. Wait, what did she say? "Someone wanted me dead?" Sure, things wouldn't be sunshine and rainbows after bringing forth her lineage as Tony Stark's illegitimate daughter, but to already have a hit put out on her? That seemed relatively quick.
"I'm afraid I need you to elaborate." Ana turned towards the other blonde, "What have I done worth warranting a hit on me?"

Yelena rolled her eyes and then pulled a small bar of chocolate from her vest pocket. "Fine. Here. Now are you coming?"
Open starter for mutuals;
“Y’know for someone that’s in need of my expert archery skills and sensational combat, you’re not doing a very good job in sweet talking me.”

Yelena nodded. "It was the funniest thing I have seen all week." She truly hadn't meant to scare Ana. But the sight of the woman holding her chest only made everything funnier. The assassin got up from her seat at the confirmation of food. "Good. I am starving." She walked straight into the woman's kitchen and opened the refrigerator.
She pulled out a small bag of cut deli meat. "I already found what I am looking for." Yelena turned to face Ana. "The man who wanted to kill you is dead. The sandwich is just a bonus."
@stainedkept from here
A palm was placed over her chest as her heart raced. Perhaps she had just been too focused to hear the other woman, or Yelena was just that silent. Either way, a few years were taken off her life. "I'm sure it was hilarious." Ana could feel her heart rate return to normal as she leaned against the counter.
"Food?" The question took her off guard: why come here for food? "Umm…yeah, I do. What are you looking for?"

At the archer's question, Yelena looked from Kate to the heart shaped box of chocolates and then back to Kate. Maybe she should have also gotten one of the small, fold up cartoon themed Valentine's cards that the neighborhood kids used to give out in school. It probably would have made this easier. "That is the point of giving a Valentine's gift, no?" Her partner's hesitance still confused the assassin. "Did someone already ask you?"
okay, maybe kate tends to malfunction quite a lot. but she didn't expect yelena to give her a valentine's day gift unless… did she know about the holiday and what everyone did? she should, right? yelena's one of, if not, the smartest person she knows. “valentine's day gift… are you asking me to be your valentine?”

PROMPTS FOR PRE ESTABLISHED CONNECTIONS AND CREATING HISTORY BETWEEN CHARACTERS * assorted dialogue for giving your characters a history and giving them past things or events to talk about, adjust as necessary
do you remember what i told you last time?
have you been doing well since i saw you?
that's not what you told me back then.
when was the last time i saw you?
you were shorter then.
i'm picking the restaurant this time.
we've known each other since we were children.
always knew i could count on you.
that time was different. this is worse.
you're not going to let me live that down, are you?
i seem to remember a conversation we had back then.
so you changed your mind about it?
do you remember our encounter in paris?
you should know me by now.
am i the only one that knows the truth?
we had a lot of help back then.
your mom told me to look out for you.
you just love bringing that back up to annoy me.
maybe don't mention my past indescretions?
this was never going to work out between us.
i told you not to get attached.
i know more about you than you think.
i was there, remember?
i'm not about to forget all the shit you put me through.
you told me you were going to try and make this work.
remember what i said to you?
the last time i saw you, things were good between us.
you never mentioned this before.
that was the longest flight of my life, and you made it worse.
can i still trust you after all that?
at least we tried to make something work.
we never discussed what happened between us.
okay, but i'm driving the car this time.
i haven't forgotten what you said last week.
i'm still thinking about your comment.
i didn't realize it was you when i first saw you.
you seem to make a lot of enemies around here.
there's not much for us to talk about.
we worked it out last time.
i know you far better than you know yourself.
we have a long history.
is that the shirt you were wearing last time?
what don't i know about you?
i haven't told them about us.
you were the only person i could go to.
you know me.
this is bigger than both of us.
i can't stand your driving.
are you taking me to the place we had dinner last time?
that's not at all what you said.
didn't we agree on that?
i thought i made it very clear where i stand.
are these the same people that came after you last time?
are you still going on about it?
can we talk about it?
staying silent about it won't help.
you're the only person who knows the real me.
this is a bad time to talk about your problems.

"Yeah, you jumpscared me! You move so quietly, it's like perpetually living in an indie horror game!"
Yelena couldn't resist a chuckle as she settled into a chair. Jumpscare. Indie horror game. Funny words. Reminded the assassin a bit of another person. "You should have seen your face. Very funny." In Yelena's defense, she hadn't intended to scare the woman. It wasn't her fault that she was too talented to move around loudly. That's why she had said hello!
"Relax. I am not here to play a horror game. I am too tired for that right now. Do you have any food?"
