Toyota FX-1, 1983. A concept that “displays many of Toyota’s concepts of the future, through its concentration of Toyota’s most advanced technology”, it was highly aerodynamic with an extremely low CD of 0.25 thanks to fully flush body surfaces. It made use of many exotic materials including ceramic brake discs and fibre reinforced metal connecting rods. It used a prototype twin turbo 1G-GE engine with variable cam timing.
