People have written a lot of touchy-feely pieces on this subject but I thought I’d get right to the heart of the matter

I think I need to elaborate on why Black(/mixed with Black features) Lenore Dove matters so much to me narratively. I don't know if it was purposeful in this case, but the peacekeepers acting extra harshly with her, pinning rebellious acts on her with no proof, arresting her when she was a CHILD because they view her as dangerous. It all gets extra tragic when making the connections between Black children and their unfair treatment by the police today, and I don't think we should undercut such an obvious parallel to current events.
