Rewatching for the umpteenth time.......when Steve, Robin, and Dustin are walking into the shelter.........Steve's face always made me wonder what he was thinking........but I think I get it now........hes got growing guilt........guilt from Eddie's death and max being dead/in a coma........and walking into that place and seeing all those people struggling, struggling because the gates opened........because he wasn't able to save them either.........its the added guilt that you see on his face.

You didn’t stop walking until you got to your car, only then realizing that you had happened to conveniently park next to Dean’s Impala. You leaned against your car door as you waited for him to walk out of the law office. You knew that he probably had to make sure that he was actually free to go, and that Sam would definitely want to make sure that there were no loose ends or loopholes that Nick could use against you. Your heart was still beating a million miles a minute as you came down from your adrenaline high. You had no idea what it was that had overtaken you, but you were certainly glad that it had, as it truly did feel like you were free again; nothing was holding you down anymore.

Two Days Later

Y/N’S POV

It was back to reality for both you and Dean today. You had gotten back home around midday yesterday, as the forecast predicted intermittent thunderstorms and you hated being on the road while it was raining. Dean had walked you to your door, and you smiled as you remembered the moment.

“I really had a great time, Dean. Thank you,” you said, wrapping your arms around his neck. He smiled down at you, that loving twinkle in his eyes.

“Thank you for trusting me enough to come along,” he replied, snaking his arms around your waist and pulling you in close. “When can I see you again?”

“Hmmm,” you thought, “Want to come over for dinner tomorrow? After we both get off work? I’ll cook,” you suggested.

“It’s a date. A real one,” he chuckled, ducking his head to place a passionate kiss on your lips. “See you tomorrow, sweetheart.”

Nights out after successful hunts, when you and Dean liked to go out to the nearest dive bar and celebrate with a drink or five, were some of your favorite moments spent with the green-eyed hunter. Right now he seemed to be moving in slow motion; the crinkles near his eyes making an appearance as he chuckled at something that you had said. You and Dean had a complicated relationship. Well, complicated for you, at least. The endless flirting and teasing between the two of you made it hard to decipher if Dean was actually into you, or if he was just being Dean. It also made it nearly impossible for you to ignore your growing feelings for the man. You weren’t the relationship type; you got your fix from the shower head and the occasional one-night stand. Maybe it’s why you and Dean got on so well — you were similar in that regard, and there was absolutely no judgement between the two of you because of it.

I think Dean has such a hard time showing his emotions, even with Sam, after all these years, because he always had to be strong and in control growing up. He was the parent and the care taker and therefore it was never an option to breakdown no matter how hard things got. It’s heartbreaking to watch him deal with his sorrow alone. Jensen kills it as always.

Dean and Hell

I love how whenever (and it’s sadly very rarely) Dean’s time in Hell is brought up or hinted at, Jensen chooses to portray Dean’s reaction almost as a non-reaction, instead of making a show of being traumatized by the memory. You see that it does hit Dean hard, but he hides it really well and doesn’t show it on the outside. After all, he hates to show any weakness, especially in front of enemies.
