listen listen listen. I spent the entire lead up to the end wondering when the dead rising again motif was going to come into play, and then it just… didn’t. But it felt incredibly deliberate, so I’m convinced that it’s setting up for something in season 3.

it’s game night for the losers bc eddie and richie have united their friend groups but richie is late and eddie’s like “god he better not be in trouble again” and then somehow they hear about a bank robbery going on and they’re like “… there’s no way” and stan’s like “everyone calm down i don’t think richie even knows where his bank is” and then they find out what bank it is and stan’s like “i mean that is his bank” and bev’s like “yeah but like. not to write another goddamn essay on this clown movie but like. patty’s grief is about unpacking the years you had together and finding where you start and your partner ends, and negotiating with the places they’re gone from: the other half of the bed, the empty seat in the car, the extra cup and toothbrush and razor next to yours. it’s about having to go the rest of your life with the title widower but waking up every morning and choosing to put your wedding ring on anyway

and richie’s grief is about not being able to mourn like that, it’s about the fact that he has to mourn in private, because he never had any of those things. richie’s grief is about mourning what could have been and should have been but never was. it’s about forgetting the grief for a day, because you have your separate life, and then being reminded and it hitting you like a wave until you feel like you’re drowning
