I luckily haven't had to deal with much chronic pain or hand pain yet, especially with regards to baking (crochet is another story). That said, these look like some pretty solid tips! There's also some in the comments section.

if this article is paywalled for you, comment/dm me and i'll send you a free copy in a google doc that also contains an article summary & highlighted quotes/takeaways.
able-bodied people don't be stupid in the notes. anti-maskers/anti-vaxers do not interact.

Sometimes you’ve just got to accept your limits and admit you’re too tired for this. Sometimes you miss out on things because your body won’t let you work, and it’s not your fault. It just happened that way and you have to accept it

Hello, I'm looking for research participants for my dissertation on chronic pain. If you have chronic pain and a spare fifteen minutes or so I'd love it if you could check the above survey out.

I have 3000 followers now so here's some tips for you all:
clean your scrapes and cuts; yes, even the small ones
use moisturizer and hair oils and stop overwashing your body
don't mix cleaning chemicals for the love of god, especially if bleach is involved in any way, that shit CAN and WILL put you in the ER or in the ground
invest in a food processor or even a small electric chopper, it's worth it, I promise
"common sense" isn't real and we all have to learn things at some point; some people just learn things a bit later than others and that's okay
regular sleep is important but some people are just wired differently and it's okay if your natural sleep cycle doesn't line up with how society is structured
don't quit any prescription medication cold turkey unless it's discussed in detail with at least one medical professional
stop asking yourself if you can survive without an accessibility aid and start asking if it will improve your quality of living instead
just be kind, to yourself and others

So, I’m seeing a lot of Halloween excitement on my dash lately. Which is great! I fully encourage it! But I want to take this time to remind people that flashing lights are not fun for everyone and are in fact dangerous for many of us, as they’re unfortunately a large part of the Halloween aesthetic. So please either don’t post gifs and videos that involve flashing lights or at the very least, tag them with “flashing lights” and NOT anything involving the word epilepsy.

[ID: a digitally drawn two-panel comic. / Image 1: Text reads: “How I expected using a cane would feel:” Panel depicts a miserable person in tattered clothes, hunched over a cane and shaking as she walks. / Image 2: Text reads: “How it actually feels:” Panel depicts the same person, now standing tall and wearing flowing wizard robes and a long white beard. Her cane is at her side, glowing with magic, and she looks confident and powerful. /End ID]

Having a disability or a chronic illness, whether it’s physical or mental, sucks rocks sometimes. And that’s okay.
It’s okay to say “this fucking sucks”
It’s okay to say “I hate this”
It’s okay to think negatively, to have a bad day. Nobody can be positive 24/7
You have the right to be angry, or frustrated, or sad. That doesn’t mean you are dealing with things badly, that doesn’t mean you have been set back, that doesn’t make you a bad person.
You are allowed to complain about things that make your life difficult.
