Want to see James Wilby in person
Sorry to bother people who are searching these tags!
Just that ANYONE KNOWS WILL JAMES COME TO THE THEATER?
The reason I ask is that the booking website (https://abovethestag.ticketsolve.com/shows/873592227) shows 14th Sep has been first sold out, even earlier than the first day 12th Sep. So, I wonder maybe some audiences know in advance that James will show up on that day. My question is: how...
( And I just checked 12th Sep has also been sold out, which I bought one but cannot make it, for the visa application will take time.

James Wilby was on BBC Radio 4’s The Film Programme this afternoon (2 August, 4pm BST) being interviewed by Antonia Quirke about the Maurice 4K re-release! Quirke is full of praise for Maurice, and especially for James’ astonishing naturalistic face acting … refreshing coverage.
Programme link here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0bclvy1
The episode is repeated at 11pm BST on Sunday 5 August and/or downloadable (see link above).

:)))))
A big thank-you to the wonderful @robertinblack for spotting this little bit of video of James on this morning’s The Wright Stuff on Twitter. (Fingers crossed for a full video sooner or later…) And a very nice snippet, too. Is anyone else thinking James should host his own show? :-D

What were your memories of working with Hugh and Rupert (Graves)? Do you remember much from that shoot?
‘I remember everything [laughs], it was great. I mean, Hugh has got a brilliant comic ability, very straight and yet funny, and that’s just a wonderful thing to be playing off, there was a little bit of humour somewhere around the edges. Rupert was just a very honest and wonderfully warm and open actor.
What was also very interesting was that the character of Maurice, or how I’d decided to play him, was somebody who was buffeted by things, he was constantly being pushed around, so he was more on the back foot rather than the front foot for most of story. So my job was just to allow whatever was happening to me to happen, and to have actors like Rupert and Hugh around me was great.’

Psst...
There’s a further new interview with James Wilby in today’s Daily Fail Weekend Magazine (28 Jul 2018). The focus is mainly on his ‘career revival’ via Poldark. His career break in Maurice, the Hugh Grant stuff, and his upcoming direction of Maurice on stage at Above the Stag in London (Sep–Oct 2018) all get a mention – but, in classic Fail style, there’s no mention of the Maurice 4K restoration or that it opened in UK cinemas yesterday!
For everyone who refuses (for numerous political and representational reasons) to support the Mail by giving them clicks, here’s a text version of the interview below the cut.

I’m literally shaking. I bought the first day ticket, but I’m not sure if I can finally access
For those of you still wondering what myself, @tigris88 and a few other friends were screaming about yesterday … we’re now posting a direct link to the exciting news!!!
A NEW PRODUCTION OF Roger Parsley and Andy Graham’s stage adaptation of MAURICE is playing at the ABOVE THE STAG theatre on VAUXHALL, LONDON, 12 September—21 October
• AND IT’S
Tumblr media
Above the Stag is the UK’s only full-time professional LGBT+ theatre. It’s located in a railway arch in Vauxhall, south London (just across the river from Tate Britain) – an area steeped in LGBT+ history, including the famous Royal Vauxhall Tavern – and it’s a real community venue and venture.
Even the main theatre is tiny – 70 seats – and tickets for Maurice are already selling. So if you can go, our advice is don’t delay booking!
