Introducing the first event for this Tumblr and for the year, Leonard McCoy Bingo.

There is no deadline and is open to anyone, all you need to do is create something inspired by any of the squares below and post it!

This bingo is open to platonic and/or romantic relationships, any universe or rating you'd like, just make sure to keep the focus on Leonard McCoy and properly tag anything sensitive.

Some clarification on a few things:

Scuttlebutt: means rumor or gossip, deriving from the nautical term for the cask used to serve water (or, later, a water fountain).

Dreams of the Raven: The title of a beta canon novel where McCoy loses his memories of the Enterprise and his Starfleet career. A Contest of Principles: Also the title of a beta canon novel where McCoy gets kidnapped.

There are no hard rules for how the fills have to relate to the square. So for the novel titles/episode titles squares, they can be inspired by the plot of the novel/episode or simply from the phrase itself or in whatever way you as the creator interpret the square.

I know theres a mckirk day and week now and a spones day and the zine, so i wouldn't want to step on any toes but would people be interested if in the new year i ran a couple themed events or themed bingos? eg, A spones valentines bingo or a mckirk summer event or an au day? I've seen such things in other fandoms and ships and they seem like fun.

I have also been thinking about running some McCoy focused events, would that be something people would be interested in?

I guess either way, i may just make some for myself and share them here, but if theres a decent amount of people who would also like to join i could make a tumblr dedicated to them.

Hello everyone! Our editors are hard at work getting the Shore Leave zine ready to go, and we should hopefully be able to reveal more soon~!

In the meantime however, we wanted to do some polls to determine how to proceed going forward. This will be our first one, regarding the submission period. All you have to do is click the link, and you will find the instructions. This will help us determine a general timeframe for when people can best work on submissions and the best time to schedule the zine and submission periods. We hope that you will be able to fill this out, and thank you all so much for all your patience and hard work. We truly appreciate it.

For the sixth (holy sh*t how?) year in a row, Aisha and I are kicking off Trektober 2024 with release of the official prompt lists. Releasing the lists now gives everyone participating plenty of time to plan ahead before posting starts in October.

As in previous years, there are three lists, each with their own theme.

With the second edition of the We Go Together Spones Zine coming soon, we are seeking out a cover artist for the issue! The theme for this issue is Shore Leave, so if you would like to make a Spones Shore Leave-themed cover page? Then this is your chance!

Spones Zine Update: Deadline Extension

Hi everyone, Mod Callie here.

First of all, I'd like to apologize for the lack of activity on here and for any news/announcements regarding the second edition of the Zine. For all of the mods, personal life has been very hectic from school to work and other things in-between. As much as we all love Spones, real life needs to come first and foremost so we hope that you understand the lack of activity.

We don't wish to cancel the issue, but we also want to be fair to both our volunteers and to you guys hoping to submit to the zine. Thus, we have decided to extend the deadline! We had originally planned to close submissions around August, but we will now be accepting until September 15th, 2024. The theme for this edition is Shore Leave, so if you'd like to submit any art/fiction, please feel free~! The submission link is posted below and please help us spread the word around~!

We thank you all for your patience with us and for your continuous support for the zine and for Spones! We will try to provide more information as things happen, and always feel free to join our Discord to keep up with all the latest! Happy Spones-ing everybody~!
