Happy Tuesday!

Let’s keep this update post short: 33 fics were added today which brings the archive’s new total to 103 fanfics. Most of the works added are set in late S4 and very early S5, back when we thought Marlene King knew what she was doing and we still had some trust in her and her writing. Ah, good times.

hey! thank you for your hard work but why are some fanfictions not included?

Hi there! Thank you for your kind words. This is sort ofvague, though, so I don’t exactly know what it’s referring to.

If you have submitted fic and I haven’t reacted to it: pleasetry sending it again. I haven’t received any submissions, asks or messageslately. Keep in mind that you can’tsend URLs through the regular inbox. Tumblr eats these asks, i.e. I don’t evensee them when you send them in. If you wanna submit URLs, use the submitfeature (or contact me through the messenger).

If you can’t find certain fics in the archive and don’tunderstand why I haven’t added them: I’m working my way back to the first pageon FF with the Spoby filters on. That’s 64 pages of fanfic. I can’tread, reread or even skim read all ofthem. I’m currently only adding works that I remember reading at some point,works that I know my friends have read, works that are short enoughfor me to have a look through and works that were submittedto me. This naturally leads to an overrepresentation of certain authors in thearchive since I’m biased, and this also makes it very, very, very likely that I’ve missed out onplenty quality fic. I’m just one person and as you can imagine, it’s a lot of work. That’s whyI keep asking aka begging y’all to send in submissions. Makes it easier, y’know?

The Five Love Languages

1. Words of Affirmation: Actions don’t always speak louder than words. If this is your love language, unsolicited compliments mean the world to you. Hearing the words, “I love you,” are important—hearing the reasons behind that love sends your spirits skyward. Insults can leave you shattered and are not easily forgotten.

2. Quality Time: In the vernacular of Quality Time, nothing says, “I love you,” like full, undivided attention. Being there for this type of person is critical, but really being there—with the TV off, fork and knife down, and all chores and tasks on standby—makes your significant other feel truly special and loved. Distractions, postponed dates, or the failure to listen can be especially hurtful.

3. Receiving Gifts: Don’t mistake this love language for materialism; the receiver of gifts thrives on the love, thoughtfulness, and effort behind the gift. If you speak this language, the perfect gift or gesture shows that you are known, you are cared for, and you are prized above whatever was sacrificed to bring the gift to you. A missed birthday, anniversary, or a hasty, thoughtless gift would be disastrous—so would the absence of everyday gestures.

4. Acts of Service: Can vacuuming the floors really be an expression of love? Absolutely! Anything you do to ease the burden of responsibilities weighing on an “Acts of Service” person will speak volumes. The words he or she most wants to hear: “Let me do that for you.” Laziness, broken commitments, and making more work for them tell speakers of this language their feelings don’t matter.

5. Physical Touch: This language isn’t all about the bedroom. A person whose primary language is Physical Touch is, not surprisingly, very touchy. Hugs, pats on the back, holding hands, and thoughtful touches on the arm, shoulder, or face—they can all be ways to show excitement, concern, care, and love. Physical presence and accessibility are crucial, while neglect or abuse can be unforgivable and destructive.

The search is also back to working properly, i.e. you should now be able to search the archives by author, keywords, summary or fic title again.

Happy November 6th!

My contribution to the “Spobyversary” this year consists of a small project. This blog is intended to work as an ever-growing archive of quality Spoby fic. The overall goal is pretty simple: sort through the massive amount of Spoby fic online, pick the best ones and then categorize them so that finding new stuff to read (and enjoy!) comes easier to all of us left in the fandom.

As of now, there are 58 fics in the different categories of the archive, up to very early season four. But new ones will be added each week or so and here’s where y’all can help: submit your favorite fics, authors or your own work so that we can keep this archive alive and running together.

If you’re curious to find out what the archive has to offer, come visit SPOBYFICS, have a look through it and waste the rest of your day reading fanfic because that essay for class? Not that important anyway.
