joshkovak:
More often than not, he didn’t expect individuals – friendly or otherwise – to come to him with their problems. It wasn’t that he was devoid of sympathy (and even if he had been, obligation would’ve kept him acting otherwise) or that he was unkind to others, but that he felt he was a fundamentally useless person. He didn’t have the faintest idea of what to do in a crisis situation, often got so wrapped up in his own anxieties that he couldn’t hope to cope with anyone else’s, and had genuinely no idea of where to begin comforting them. Which was exactly why it’d come as such a shock to be entrusted with Molly’s secret, and to have her show up asking for assistance at all.
“Oh, uh– no, no that’s– you don’t need to, uh, apologize, it’s– I’ll try… to help out, if– if I can,” he said, hating his incompetence but wanting to do his best, for her sake. If it was true that she hadn’t told anyone else (and he had no reason to believe she’d deceive him), then she really didn’t have anyone more qualified to go to… which explained (to him) why she’d chosen him in the first place. “Do– do you want to come in? I– I’m really not, uh, busy at– at all, I promise,” he continued, opening his door a bit wider and stepping back into the apartment. It was ridiculously beat up, but even if she’d given him a few hours notice he wouldn’t have been able to improve it much… poverty and the specifics of his mutation kept him permanently leaving in a mess.
He stood awkwardly for a few moments, trying to figure out what he could’ve said to help, but finding nothing useful kicking around in his head. “I have, uh– do you want some… water, or– or, uh… I might have something else, if… if you want,” he suggested, throwing a quick glance back towards his fridge. It wasn’t a solution, per se, but he figured that being hospitable was a decent first step – at the very least, it couldn’t hurt, right?
Grabbing onto her arm and rubbing it out of anxious habit, she walked into the room. “Yes. Thanks.” she slightly nodded not making much eye contact. The room was pretty disheveled and Josh didn’t look much better. She wondered what exactly he did to the place to make it look the way it did. Of course, she could relate to his current situation. Every time she came back to it, her apartment was trashed and things were missing- sometimes even people. Molly also knew that asking about it wasn’t exactly appropriate.
“I probably shouldn’t drink anything but water right now. It could... I don’t know... trigger something. I’m not entirely... sure.” she said trying to make sense of her own words. She didn’t wan to risk blacking out in front of anyone else. It was just something that seemed like a bad idea, especially since she wasn’t exactly sure what happens whenever she does. Maybe it was the only way she could ever find out, though. Today just wasn’t the day to test that theory. Molly was tired- mentally and physically.

“Great. We’ll head to this little diner I like. Meta owned, of course,” she opened the front door for Nova. Really it was just to be able to check her out as she walked past. Shameless as always. She grinned at the girl and walked to her car. Yet another new one she’d recently bought. Mari couldn’t help herself, she just liked to go fast. Her parents would have told her that real estate was a better investment but she still had the vineyard up north. If her only vices were cars and sex, she was doing fine as far as she was concerned. “Hop in,” she called as she slid in the driver’s seat.
“Damn, this car turns me on a little.” Nova joked to the other. “Then again, anything expensive does.” she admitted. That was another reason Nova was attracted to the group. It all just seemed so luxurious. “So what car is this for you? Like... your eighth? You’re not going to make me buckle up either, are you? You don’t seem like a girl who likes to play it safe.” Nova purred letting her gaze run over each of Mari’s curves. Another thing about the Nephilim- they were all so fucking gorgeous.

“Well, everything in moderation they say,” Jim replied, shooting Nova a smile. Where the anger of the others could burn hot and consuming, Jim’s froze, become controllable and patient, just waiting for the moment to be unleashed. He had learned to control his emotions before they consumed him; Moxxi’s had beaten that lesson into him.
“The house has been fine. Quiet, but getting spicier now,” He winked. With Cyrus and Alessandro joining them, the days were definitely much more interesting. And Jonah was back! All the pieces moving into place…now they just had to make a move and take CARMA by painful surprise.
“Hopefully it doesn’t get too spicy. I’m still waiting for this place to turn to ashes with as much power it’s housing.” she said with a chuckle. She thought back to the first time she stepped foot in the house and meeting the other members. Each one of them seemed to be able to take down entire armies. It was then she realized how much they could accomplish.
“Have there been any decisions made about what we are going to do next? If we drag this out any longer suspense will turn into old news. P.us... I wanna get my hands dirty.” she admitted with a coy smirk.

It was fun, being able to use her powers without threat of retribution from C.A.R.M.A.. Summer had made it snow, just in the park she was in, using her powers to stop the California heat from melting it away the second it touched the ground. Watching Californians who’d barely seen snow slip and slide on the ice was hilarious. She managed to mostly contain her laughter to sniggers until she saw a rather uptight business man slip in an extremely undignified manner. She burst out laughing, ignoring the looks she drew.
Snow in California- had to be a meta. Nova had been passing the park when she the first snowflake landed on her shoulder. Being as curious as she was, Nova made her to the center of the park. Assuming the one making it snow was the girl laughing to herself, she smirked as she carefully released some of her radiation aura forcing the snow around her to melt. “You know, I stayed in here so I wouldn’t have to deal with the snow.” Nova stated recognizing the face as one of the newest members of the Nephilim.

“Human help,” Mari corrected. She was quite certain a meta would get the job done but having humans employed her basically gave them outlets for their anger readily available. Plus she had bigger things to worry about than who cleaned their toilets. “Actually,” she put her cup and tablet down, “That is an amazing idea. I could get out of here for a bit and this coffee is shit.” She walked toward the stairs to go change, “It’s about time you and I had an actual conversation.” She quickly put on some skinny jeans and her leather jacket. Finishing the look off with her favorite new heels and clicked down the stairs. “So where to?”
“Yes, human help, of course.” she said with a smile and an eye roll. Nova knew the metas were obviously dominant compared to the humans, but she didn’t care much about proving it. She was with the Nephilim strictly to have power on her side. Metas who embraced their capabilities instead of trying to repress or keep them completely under control just weren’t as strong. Sure, there were usually strength in numbers, but this was a different game. “You know, Mari, I was just thinking the same thing. Anywhere really. I’m not super familiar with the better places to go to.

mari-golde:
Mari honestly felt like a suburban mom this morning. She was sitting in the dining room with her feet up on the table reading the news on her tablet and drinking coffee. Just waiting for one of her kids to walk in and break the silence. It wasn’t long before one of their members walked in and the scene was complete. She looked up and raised a brow. It was one of the newer girls. Nova. That was her name, right? Mari wasn’t sure if she was talking to her or not but she answered anyway, “Does who not care anymore? The maid? We actually hired a new one because that old one was stealing Jay’s jewelry. I think the other new girl offed her or something.” She turned back to her tablet but wasn’t really reading anymore. “There’s breakfast in here if you want some.”
Nova was too busy fixing herself that she didn’t notice Mari just across the way. “Jesus, you startled me, but damn I really liked that maid. I guess you just can’t trust the help anymore.” Nova stated walking over to the table. “Sure, I could have some breakfast in here.... but we could also go get some food at a cafe or something. Get out of this stuffy mansion for a while?” she spoke leaning on the table. She didn’t know much about Mari other than she liked her and was glad she let her in the little coupe.

Jim chuckled back at Nova, glancing back before crossing the threshold into the kitchen. “Mirrors see right into your soul. They see…everything.” He purred the word, dragging his eyes purposefully down the firey blond. “Are you sure you want me being your magic mirror?” he left the room with that questions, moving into the kitchen and to the fridge, fixing them both a drink…his own much more interesting despite virginal. Nova got some lemon water…once he found it stashed at the back behind everything else.
“Detox… After the past week I’d have thought anger management would have been the right therapy.” CARMA’s latest infringement and violation one that had been the final nail in the coffin. They were all angered by it and galvanised more so than ever.
Her eyes followed Jim as he exited the room. He was always so interesting to Nova- his darkness hid under the surface. The other Nephilim usually let their rage manifest and show itself in every way possible. It wasn’t a secret that Nova wasn’t exactly the master of restraint, but the way Jim carried himself intrigued her. To be fair, they all intrigued her, just Jim a bit more than the rest.
“Oh don’t worry, Jimmy, I killed a few agents after the week. What do you think I did before I came here? Now I’m just feeling a bit toxic... if you will.” Nova spoke walking over and grabbing her water. “So how has the house been, hm?”

“So it’d seem.” he said with a nod “I’m assuming this extends past drinks, though, yes?” he asked, a small laugh rumbling in his throat.
“Exotic-ish, yea. Not as impressive as you’d think.” he smirked a little. “Gracias. I have yet to make a real decision yet. But it may be looking up, in time.” he took a sip of his drink. “It’s alright, the people aren’t quite as interesting as I was promised, though.”
“I’d like to think that it does, yes.” she said taking the drink from the bar tender and taking a sip.
“The people are never interesting at first. It’s only when you start to really know them that they hold any kind of interest or entertainment. I mean, there are a lot of metas running around here, but I suppose you’ve heard all about that, right?”

joshkovak:
It was an undeniable fact that Josh didn’t have many friends, and most often preferred to avoid people than try to remedy that. In his honest opinion, he was the sort of person who should’ve stayed away from relationships of all kinds, and thus he lived a very isolated life. For better or for worse, however, friendships – acquaintanceships? – had a way of happening regardless of how isolated he became, and in recent months his total number of friends had gone from zero to, well, slightly more than that. A start, though whether it was a sign of a looming disaster or an upswing in his life was more difficult to determine.
One of these such friends – acquaintances? – had been made in more recent weeks, and because of his overall negative view of himself he hadn’t really expected to see her much more. As it so happened, he was wrong, and he’d barely picked himself off the floor of his bedroom (mornings) when he noticed that he’d gotten a text from them… about ten minutes previous. Half-panicking because of how unprepared he was, he hurriedly texted them a see you soon and proceeded to dart around his disaster of an apartment, trying to make it seem at least partially presentable.
It was difficult with clawed up furniture, and walls, and… everything, but he did his best to shove the worst of his messes somewhere out of sight, and had just finished his daily transformation when he heard a knock from the door. Pulling it open, he offered the best smile he could manage – admittedly, it wasn’t great – and tried not to look as anxious as he felt – another failure. “Hey, uh– do… are you okay?” he asked, finally noting that she looked… well, not great.
For a moment Molly paused seeing him open the door. There was a moment of absolute regret coming to talk to this man she had just met and completely spilled her guts to. Well, she only told him about her blackouts, but that was probably the only secret she had (minus the drugs and shady ways she got her money.) Molly wanted to turn heel and just run back to her hole of an apartment and just hide there until she blacked out again.
With a strained breath and a deep gulp and mustered up courage. “I had another blackout. I woke up in an apartment... and I- I didn’t know where else to go. I panicked and I... I just need a distraction. I’m sorry- this is stupid of me.” Molly explained with a shaky voice. “You’re the only person I really told about the blackouts so you were the first person I thought about coming to, but I can leave if you’re busy. I don’t want to bother you.”
She could tell he was a bit anxious himself, and she tried her best not to be a burden to other people. It was selfish of her to just demand his presence the way she did. He could have been busy with other things that were vastly more important than some blonde he met out and about. Molly rested her hand on the door frame, ready to either accept an invitation in or push back and walk away. She waited for a reaction with pleading eyes.

Only an hour or two ago Molly Nova found herself waking up in a strange place- a place that was unfamiliar to her. It looked to be a high end apartment in the more expensive side of Pansaw. This was something new to her and sent her into a state of high anxiety. Molly Nova grabbed everything familiar to her and rushed out the door.
The only person she really thought of going to was Josh. She had told him a day or two after her second blackout- a complete stranger. Not wanting to surprise him with a visit she whipped out her phone and shot him a text letting him know she was coming to see him. Molly Nova just hoped he wasn’t doing anything to important.
Coming up to his place she knocked on the door praying for him to be home. Her head as still spinning and she felt as if the entire journey to see him was part of some twisted dream. In fact, that’s how she felt this entire week had been. It was beginning to be too much for her to handle.

Santiago watched the other for a brief moment, beginning to profile her, but he had to remind himself he wasn’t in detective mode at the moment. He was just being a guy out for a drink. He nodded at her choice of drink. “Sounds tasty.” he said with a small grin.
“Not so much a good mood but a generous one. New to town and buying people drinks is how we make friends in L.A.”
Nova never really took the time to read people- she was about acting without thinking first. Most called her a little too reckless, but when someone wanted to cause some destruction, Nova was usually the first person they went to. “What can I say? I have good taste.” she said letting her eyes scan over his body.
“Oh, LA, how exotic.” Nova joked giving him a small wink. “Welcome to Pansaw. I’m assuming it’s not exactly living up to your expectations?” she speculated. “If it’s not I wouldn’t be too surprised. It’s...nice... just doesn’t live up to all the hype.”

“ ‘Make the move to Pansaw’, they said, ‘The people are interesting and the work is more rewarding. LAPD is nothing in comparison.’ All a crock of grade-A Mierda de caballo.” Santiago murmured to himself as he made his way into the Starz Club, walking up to the bar. New cities were always a struggle. “You think I can get a rum and coke?” he asked the bartender. “And whatever my new friend here would like” he said looking toward the other there.
Nova sat at the bar just to out of her restlessness. The mansion made her feel enclosed and trapped. The other metas weren’t bad, in fact, she liked them. Nobody could really pin her down, and that’d how she planned on keeping it.
She didn’t pay much attention to the man next to her until she heard his offer. Looking over she flashed him a smile and rotated her body to face him. “I’d like a martini, wet, stirred, and on the rocks.” she ordered the bartender. “You must be in a good mood.” Nova said turning her attention to the stranger.

“You know, there are mirrors if you want to admire yourself, Narcissus,” Jim chuckled, having come to have some lunch. Seeing Nova - if that was her choice, that was her choice - he stopped, watching her admire herself with his little laugh. “And without a magic one I’m sorry to say it won’t talk back.” He added, moving to the fridge.
“Drink? Snack?” He called, opening it.
“Maybe we can buy a talking mirror with all the money we seem to have.” she chuckled back rubbing her lip together. “Or you could just be my personal magic mirror. I would ask Jaden, but that just seems a bit too ironic.” she joked moving away from the mirror and walking towards the kitchen.
“I’ll just take some water with lemon... it’s too early for wine anyway. Usually I wouldn’t care, but I have to detoxing to do after this past week.”

Nova Molly hadn’t been back at the Nephilim manor ever since before the negation field went up. Now, with it down, she felt it appropriate to make her return. It wasn’t like she could live in the mansion herself due to her little problem. All she had to do was walk through the front door- bypassing any form of security.
Finding the nearest reflective surface, she paused and checked to make sure not a hair was out of place. She actually cared about her appearance unlike some other people, but that didn’t mean Nova Molly couldn’t get a little dirty when she had to. “Damn, that was one hell of a week. Does she just not care anymore?” she mumbled running her fingers along the outline of her lip.
