time to call it
as much as I love all of y’all and rping with every single one of you, it just isn’t going to happen for me at this point on tumblr. I can’t seem to motivate myself to do it. I don’t know if it’s because of the interface frustrations or what, but it just clearly isn’t happening and I hate that folks are left waiting for months or longer for me to show up, much less get a response out.
I write a lot on discord and would absolutely write there with each and every one of you. everyone I’ve interacted with here on this account has been nothing short of stellar in both personal and writing regards.
I’m so sorry to show up (months later, again) to post this. thank you all for the tons of fun and friendship here. I hope to continue it on a platform I regularly use!

shadow-assassin-blix
Blix moved at a leisurely pace. It was a strange feeling, being a vigilante. She, like her current partner, was far more used to committing crimes than fighting them. The night was calm, and pleasantly warm, which helped given that they were stalking around wearing 30lbs of armor and gear.
Upon hearing him call out for her, she started to respond before bracing herself as he latched himself onto her back.  “Ye- Oof!”
She sighed loudly. How did I get stuck with this CHILD as my best friend? She adjusted his legs for a moment, before carrying on, albeit at much slower pace. “You really need to start giving me better warnings that you want a piggyback. One day I’m not gonna catch you and we are both going to crash down to the cement. So are we looking for anyone/anything in particular or are we just meant to patrol until sun comes up?” Blix asked as they made their way through an alley.
Lurching forward as he nearly bowled over Blix, Billy felt his stomach drop for a moment. Luckily for them both, she caught her balance and didn’t throw him off of her.
“If I give you a heads up it’s not nearly as fun,” he chimed, jumping down off of her back, nearly tripping but managing to get his feet under himself. Walking down the alley, he glanced around, skirting around a rat making its way to the nearby dumpster. “Patrol until sunrise. Better this than minding communications in the bunker.”
Still, Billy hoped the night stayed quiet.

huntresscaraquinn
The other woman was clenching and unclenching her fists - assumingly out of anger or frustration - but what Cara didn’t understand was why. Because she wouldn’t share a name? Why would she even want it in the first place? Or was it simply because she was a hunter. She could comprehend that, at least. Not all hunters hunted the way that she did - killing only killers. Recognizing that with some creatures, there were shades of grey. But if that was the case - why hesitate? Why hold back? Why not attack her, why not attempt to end her where she stood?
Then the werewolf spoke again, and now Cara was really confused. “…You misunderstand me. I wasn’t asking for your help. I provided you with that information so that you would know that I’m not here to hunt you, that I don’t wish you any harm. I just want to complete this job, and then go on my way.”
Kita scoffed lightly, folding her arms across her chest. “If you were here to hunt me, that would be a mistake on your part. But luckily for you, we’re after the same thing. Anyone kidnapping and killing humans is a threat to me, in the long run.”
There was no need to bring up The Veil, her cause. She might as well make this seem a personal quest—perhaps that would draw the hunter’s interest, or gain her some sympathy. The life of a werewolf was... complicated. This hunter clearly had a code—and maybe a conscience as well.

It was surreal that she was gone. If Zero hadn’t long ago learned to compartmentalize—to pack the bad shit in a box and bury it—he’d already have gone mad. But he had, and he would practice that now. Grief could come later. The dead didn’t care for time. Time was for the living and he could wait to mourn until after he’d done this—until after he’d checked in on her protege, her legacy.
Big Boss. He would never use that name. Besides, it was Jack who stood in front of him. Big Boss might have killed the Boss, finished his mission, but it was Jack who was having to pick up the pieces.
“No true hero feels like one.” Zero pat Jack on the shoulder before walking past him, tapping the spines of books on a bookshelf. “I know she never saw herself in such a light.”

JOHN REMAINS SILENT despite Zero’s words, the most he’d done following his battle with Ocelot is confirm he was off the plane and further confirmed to Zero that The Boss was dead. Since then he hadn’t said a single word and he’s glad that Eva hadn’t tried forcing him to talk–– she understood that there were no words to be said after what had happened.  Everything after seemed to blur, one day after the other. His night with Eva, her departure and revelations, the  visit to the White House, even his demand that The Boss receive a headstone in Arlington Cemetery. They’d only conceded if her name did not appear, he agreed.
And now it was over, the flurry of post op celebrations and awards and medical check ups. It was just him in her sparse apartment. He’d known The Boss had one in D.C., it wasn’t the first time he was here but it’d been years and from the looks of it she rarely used it. There would be no one here to clean it up, put things away and if he didn’t do it they’d be sold off for auction by the building owners.
The words echo from behind him, from the entrance, and John knows who it is without having to look. John doesn’t answer Zero, rather he slowly walks about the living room hand ghosting over cabinet and walls, pausing here and there to look what ever small items The Boss kept. No, he’s not the monster… to the world that’s The Boss and he? He’s the hero so why doesn’t he feel like one? He feels ugly and dirty inside and he had since the moment he pulled the trigger.
A heavy beat passes and he only turns his attention to Zero when he feels a hand on his shoulder. ❝ I don’t feel like a hero. ❞

various headcanons
• Zero was incredibly fond of Solid Snake / David Doe from the moment he held him in his arms as a baby, hence David inheriting his name. Zero had not spent much time around children and had never considered having children of his own so it was surreal to him to be, in some incredibly twisted manner, a parent and creator of two children. As much as he tried to remind himself that these small humans were clones of Big Boss he couldn’t escape the emotional connection he felt to them. They were babies. Innocent and defenseless—the polar opposite of the man he had cloned. The guilt he had not felt during the project and during EVA’s pregnancy hit him full force when he held David. Keeping the children at a distance was more to keep that guilt at bay than anything else.
• Zero never stopped trying to retrieve the pin badge of his fallen comrade, once he knew it was in Skull Face’s hands. He intended for Jack to have it, and to know it’s history. Perhaps he saw it as a peace offering or perhaps he hoped it would change Jack’s mind and bring him back to Cipher and the Patriots.
• Zero was ill long before Skull Face poisoned him. He had lost far too much weight and his physical health was deteriorating in suit. Skull Face’s poison just ensured Zero’s mind failed before his body.

headcanons regarding zero and ocelot :
• Zero knew who Ocelot’s parents were but chose to keep the information to himself, knowing The Boss had not yet revealed that information herself to even her son. If she had chosen to keep it to herself she had had good reason for it and he wasn’t about to share a secret that wasn’t his to share. He was aware of The Boss and The Sorrow’s relationship and was supportive of it, pulling strings when need be behind the scenes. The Boss didn’t connect with many people in an such a deeply emotional way and Zero was glad to see her genuinely happy, even if she had to hide it.
• Part of Zero’s trust in Ocelot is based purely on the fact that he knew Ocelot’s parents. It blinds him to Ocelot’s more treacherous tendencies.
• It hurts Zero deeply that Ocelot is so disgusted by him. This can be heard on the call from Zero to Ocelot requesting Ocelot protect a then unconscious Big Boss. “You, too, can only bear to speak to me from time to time.” Zero recognizes Les Enfants Terribles was a mistake and regrets that it not only destroyed his friendship with Big Boss but also Ocelot and EVA.

man i feel like i’m stealing this idea from someone else…ladypigeon maybe? if so i’m so sorry D:
I wondered why Big Boss brought Zero all the way to the graveyard just to kill him in front of Snake instead of just doing it at whatever hospital he was being kept at
but then I looked at that gif with the flowers at The Boss’ grave and…maybe he was just letting Zero visit her one last time.

The vision she painted left Billy’s heart aching. If he could give it to her, he would. He wanted to, for her sake and for his. He had missed her, missed this, this comfort and companionship and the way she always managed to impress him and how she—
But this wasn’t normal. Her comment about death—about being dead—brought that all back like a tidal wave. Sara had died. She had died and come back and something was wrong. Some kind of hell-filled nightmarish PTSDa penance for cheating death.
Billy knew the moment Sara averted her eyes that he wasn’t about to like whatever came next. Sure enough, it was about the worst possible solution imaginable. Lock her in a cage.
“I—I can’t do that Sara—that’s—“ His voice caught in his throat and he fought back the overwhelming urge to let down and cry. “I can’t put you back in a cage when you just got out of one. You aren’t—you are not dangerous. Maybe I just need to give you some space while you sleep—or—or something. But not that. Not that.”
splinterwrites:
He hated feeling like this. Helpless. And somehow it was worse in these situations. Trapped, pinned under the shrapnel on Lian Yu—at the time Billy couldn’t have imagined anything worse than that. But this? Being unable to help someone he cared about, someone he loved? He’d take the disaster in purgatory all over again.
He didn’t try and hold on, when Sara pulled away. Maybe that was the right thing to do, maybe it was the wrong thing. He didn’t know. Helpless, helpless, helpless.
It took a moment to gather his thoughts, arms folded on his knees. But finally, he spoke again.
“If that’s what you want—I’ll go—or I can get you a lift somewhere you feel safe. But I can tell you, that’s pretty much the last thing that I want. After the past few—after everything that’s happened—I don’t—hell,” he gave a weak chuckle. “It was already going to be hard for me to leave you alone long enough just to go to the bathroom. Right now… right now there is no place I would rather be than right here, helping you figure this out.”
“What I want?” Sara replied with a watery, mirthless laugh, “What I want is to sleep for three days straight, and to wake up with you sitting beside me. Then I want to order in a giant breakfast - pancakes, and waffles, and French toast, and sausage, and eggs, and toast - and have you shake your head and tell me there’s no possible way I can eat all of that. Which would lead to me dazzling you with my eating abilities, which are impressive on a good day, but even more so after going without food for over a year…” Because one would think you wouldn’t miss things like food and sleep while you were dead, but you could. She did - among many other things.
She fell silent as Billy went on to say that the last thing he wanted was to be separated from her. That he didn’t want to walk away to go to the bathroom, let alone drop her off somewhere. She took a minute to think everything over, and while she did come up with a solution… He wasn’t going to like it. Which was why she dropped her gaze before uttering, “I can’t stay here. I could hurt you, or Laurel. And if I go to one of my old safehouses, you can’t stay with me. Because if I lash out…” She could hurt him again. Or worse. “…But I’m tired, Billy. I’ve gone days without sleeping, done countless missions without it, but this is different.” It was like she couldn’t breathe. “…It’s only a matter of time before I’m out. So if you want to stick with me, that leaves us with one option: the cage in the bunker.”

Major Zero, briefly known as Major Tom and later simply called Zero, was born David Oh in Exeter, England on August 12th, 1909, and was a former member of the British SAS. Zero was the commander of the CIA special forces unit FOX (Force Operation X) in the 1960s. By the time of Operation Snake Eater, he lived in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, which is also the location of the Pease AFB. At some point, he suffered from gout, but recovered just before the operation. Zero had a prominent scar over his left eye. He also had a sister, and was a huge fan of the James Bond films. He was the head of an unofficial CIA division called the UMA Club. He later became the founder of the Patriots. - Metal Gear Wiki

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ 30 DAYS OF METAL GEAR Day 3: Unlikeable Character(s) ———————-
Ok.. This was a hard one since I don’t really dislike anyone in Metal gear. I LIKE Zero, in fact I LOVE his character, he’s awesome. Super charming and hilarious in MGS3. I’m using the term “unlikeable” lightly here. SO I’m referring to this more as a “I don’t like him because he hurt the other characters I like” kind of thing. Haha, but overall he’s badass and a great villain character.
