Amazing how I’m a grown adult and I still cannot shake the exact same childhood feeling of thinking im going to “get in trouble”

I want one of those heist movie scenes where the main cast goes around slamming open doors to meet with a diverse cast of hackers, spies, and rogues but when the sequence is over and it cuts back to the team at their meeting table it's just the original cast and the leader says, "They all said no. We need a new plan."

I wasn't planning on posting anything but I was staring at a post I really liked and started just biting my phone like a feral animal and accidentally pressed the post button with the inside of my mouth.

Do not punish the behaviour you want to see

I mean, it seems pretty obvious when you put it like that, right?

But how many families, when an introvert sibling or child makes an effort to socialize,  snarkily say, “So, you’ve decided to join us”?

Or when someone does something they’ve had trouble doing, say, “Why can’t you do that all the time?” (Happened to me, too often.)

Or any sentence containing the word “finally”. 

If someone makes a step, a small step, in a direction you want to encourage, encourage it. Don’t complain about how it’s not enough. Don’t bring up previous stuff. Encourage it.

Because I swear to fucking god there is nothing more soul-killing, more motivation-crushing, than struggling to succeed and finding out that success and failure are both punished.

That is the holiday dream that was ripped from my hands by this selfish country.

You know, as a kid I was excited for Black Friday.

I always saw the episodes on TV and the commercials where people would literally attack each other for a $15 laptop and I would dream of the days in the future where I would get to run through a Walmart screaming and attacking people just to get what I wanted.
