I decided to draw Usagi and Mamoru to catch up=^^=

Have you ever counted how many tropes and all sorts of romantic scenarios this couple has in the canon? I figured out:

- from non-friends to friends to lovers

- forbidden love of people from different worlds (the theme of the love of the lunar princess and the earthly prince, I think, has not been revealed)

- when one of the lovers loses his memory, and the other does not

- when one pretends that he does not love another to save his life (Endymion's dumbest idea)

- lovers in a past life

- meeting their future selves and their future child.

And that's not counting fighting side by side, fighting each other, and self-sacrifice to save the life of a loved one. And I'm sure I missed something else)

So I've talked about my "Fake scenarios" before yea?

Well I've realized its gotten to the point I'm "writing" whole ass Mamousa fanfiction without writing it down.

And I've also been absolutely consuming other people's Mamousa fanfics since late November on AO3. Its crazy how before I never bothered with fanfiction but when I want new otp -specifically Mamoru Chiba and Usagi Tsukino- content that I can't get enough of suddenly I go searching.

Discovered I can't handle smut. Read a bit of it trying to be brave. But uh nope lol.

I think I enjoy 90s inspired fics the most surprisingly 🤔

But anyway back to the point of this blog-

I found myself with this idea- basically "wrote" the whole thing in my head. I'm gonna put the barebones beginning but be aware I am NOT a writer, I don't really know how to describe things in the ways that are needed for a book. Sooo don't expect me to bring this to life outside of possibly finding the motivation to draw a scene or two. Anyway here goes:

Mamoru and Usagi are at the airport preparing to say goodbye. Mamoru gives Usagi the ring with the intention to ask her something very important when the Golden Crystal is stolen from him. Everything goes black for Mamoru, and then he wakes up finding himself in his apartment at night. Something feels different but also eerily familiar. Mamoru notices that things that used to indicate Usagi and Chibi-Usa's presence aren't there. Like the extra red pillow that was usually on his bed.

Confused as hell realizing that he's not at the airport with Usagi like he was a couple seconds ago, he goes to turn on the light on his nightstand but it doesn't turn on. He pushes open the curtain of his window to see another eerily familiar sight, Tokyo in complete darkness and an incredibly bright light near Tokyo Tower being the only light source. Concerned and desperately hoping that what he thinks is going on is just a trick on his mind, Mamoru transforms into Tuxedo Mask and rushes to the Tokyo Tower. If his hunch is correct, Sailor Moon needs him fast and his extra time of investigating instead of rushing out to her could have serious consequences.

So basically, when Mamoru is killed by Galaxia, he finds himself reliving the events of his life starting at act 8 of the manga. He has been given the chance to revisit the past and he maayyyy or may not have all his memories of the life he just came from and may or may not try to stall the discovery of the Silver Crystal to prevent Usagi from being targeted by people like- everyone she will eventually face that want to take that power from her. And it also might have something to do with knowing he has to die in front of her for the Crystal to be discovered.

So ye dunno if that piqued anyone's interest but if by some chance it did, I would not be opposed if someone took a crack at writing a little thing based on it?

Welcome to Senshi x Shitennou Weeks!

thank you for defending mamoru on tumblr dot com i have been defending him for decades against the 90s anime only haters he is my special guy 🫡 my best friend 🫡

I’m sorry I somehow only just saw this but all in a days work my friend 🫡 it’s always so silly bc you realize that ppl who only ever watched the 90’s series really either only watched the first season or they had rose tinted glasses on about Usagi. Like I love my girl but she could be very antagonistic towards Mamoru when he quite literally had done nothing wrong. So a lot of the shit Mamoru gets dunked on for is missing so much context for what the whole scene was, missing that usually these things were added for comedic purposes not to make you hate him, and usually missing that Usagi had started it lol.

And to delve into a UsaMamo defense rant: They just are portrayed at two different maturity levels which isn’t bad whatsoever but what I think other fans aren’t accepting as just a fact of their relationship. Hence why se*yusa stans I think believe [redacted] is better when in reality they’re just as emotionally immature as Usagi. Which as the series shows is why she and Mamoru are a better balance. Mamoru is quiet, collected, a voice of reason, her support, and lacks an ego that would compromise their relationship. This balances with Usagi who is loud, brash, driven, and has the passion to pursue what she thinks is right. And quite frankly my take is that a lot of people can’t accept that at the core and no matter how much it is the entire point of the series: Usagi is the one that’s going to save her man. We may joke about it but Mamoru IS the damsel of the series. He is desired the most by other characters through the series and I think that bothers people. But unlike where fandom wants him to be emasculated by needing to be saved, he knows it, accepts it, and WANTS to be Usagi’s support instead. Mamoru will do whatever to protect Usagi but it isn’t out of a need to “protect his property” type of bullshit that I see popping up in fanon. Because he’s secure in his masculinity. And idk why that’s so hard for people to grasp. When he thinks he’s failed it’s not as a man but as Usagi’s other half.

And also: I’ve have had the realization that knowing some Japanese helps with better understanding Mamoru’s character in the 90’s given what a lot of subtitles don’t elaborate on: the nicknames he has for those close to him (calling Usagi, Usako), the weight of the way he professes his love (using 愛してる over 好きです), HOW MUCH HE APOLOGIZES EVEN WHEN HE SHOULD’T NEED TO (her bday episodes as an example) bc he doesn’t think he’s good enough for her….I could go on for hours.
