Tips For Better Coffee (without breaking the bank)
1. Buy Good Beans: This is important. More important than you realize. All the good gear in the world won’t save you from poorly roasted coffee. Buy your beans from good specialty shops. I recommend Blue Bottle, Onyx, and The Coffee Ethic. It is only a few dollars more per pound but the increase in quality is tremendous.
2. Buy Fresh Beans: Good quality coffee companies will give you a roast date instead of an expiration date. Coffee tastes best when brewed and enjoyed no more than 8 weeks after the roast date.
3. Buy Whole Beans: I’ll explain why in a second.
4. Grind Fresh: That’s why. Coffee, once ground, starts to lose aromatic and some flavor compounds very quickly, as little as 15 minutes after grinding, no matter how meticulous the method of storage.
5. Invest in a conical burr grinder: This will be the most expensive thing on this list but please trust me. Bladed grinders to not grind the coffee evenly. A conical burr grinder will give you the best quality for your budget over blades. You can get mechanical grinders for less than $40, but if you want an electric burr grinder, expect to spend up to $100.
6. Use Good Water: Use filtered water from your fridge, not tap. Alternatively, use a Brita filter or similar device. This water is softer and will give you a cleaner cup.
Happy Brewing

Red Velvet Snowball Cookies Recipe | Christmas Cookies Recipe
Learn how to make delicious red velvet snowball cookies that are perfect for any Holiday baking.~
Ingredients:
2 ½ Cups All Purpose Flour (340g)
¼ Cup Unsweetened Cocoa Powder (20g)
2 Teaspoons Baking Powder (10g)
¼ Teaspoon Salt (1.5g)
¾ Cup Butter, Softened (168g)
1 ¼ Cups Powdered Sugar + More for Dusting (150g)
2 Teaspoons Vanilla Extract (10ml)
2-3 Teaspoons Red Food Coloring (10-15ml)
¼-½ Cup Milk or Milk Substitute (60ml-120ml)
Directions:
In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Set aside. In a large mixing bowl, beat with an electric mixer the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Gradually add the flour mixture and mix just until combined. The dough will look like wet sand. Beat in the vanilla and food coloring. Gradually add milk to the mixture while beating at low speed. Add just enough milk that the dough holds together. Let the dough stand 10 minutes at room temperature if too soft.
Scoop about 1 tablespoon of dough and roll into a ball. Place the dough balls on a parchment lined baking sheet while spacing them about 1.5 inches apart. Freeze for 10 minutes. Then bake in a preheated oven at 350F for 15-18 minutes, rotating the sheets halfway through baking. The cookies will be done once the edges are dry and the bottoms are slightly browned.
Remove to a wire rack and cool for 5 minutes. Then toss the cookies in powdered sugar while they are still warm.
| Makes about 2 ½ dozen cookies.

Shortbread Cookie Recipe (Cookie Spells)
Here is my basic shortbread cookie recipe, as well as a few variations you can do in order to jazz up an offering or use the cookie as a spell. Cookies make fantastic vessels for spells -more so than most other desserts in my experience. They also make perfect offerings for your deities, and simplify whole-item offerings to Chthonic deities.
