In the meantime, Duchovny has kept busy dabbling in another side of entertainment-becoming a singer. I'd say, it's never done until one of us dies - until one of us three is gone." "Chris has got a new show," he said, referring to Carter's Amazon pilot, The After, which has since been cancelled. I think it did OK business, but not the kind of business where you get to do another one right away."Ī large portion of getting any reboot to function correctly is corralling original cast members. I wish the second one did better business. Fox's reboot of 'The X-Files' will premiere on January 24th, 2016, with David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson returning to the roles of FBI Agents Mulder and Scully. X-Files is one of the most beloved science-fiction TV shows ever made and holds up remarkably well despite its age. The trailer itself evokes quite strong emotions from someone who adores a number of classic X-Files episodes. Few shows on television have drawn such dedicated fans as The X-Files, and we're ecstatic to give them the next thrilling chapter of Mulder and Scully they've been waiting for."ĭuchovny told Rolling Stone last year that he still harbored faith for some sort of X-Files revival, concerning a follow-up to 2008's The X-Files: I Want to Believe. "I would always want to do it," he said. " The X-Files was not only a seminal show for both the studio and the network, it was a worldwide phenomenon that shaped pop culture - yet remained a true gem for the legions of fans who embraced it from the beginning. The breakneck two-minute promo unveiled at the beginning of Sunday’s X-Files panel and embedded above for your viewing pleasure offers the first footage from the latest revival (aka Season 11). "We had the privilege of working with Chris on all nine seasons of The X-Files - one of the most rewarding creative experiences of our careers - and we couldn't be more excited to explore that incredible world with him again," Fox TV chairmen and CEOs Dana Walden and Gary Newman said in a separate statement. "The good news is the world has only gotten that much stranger, a perfect time to tell these six stories."

"I think of it as a 13-year commercial break," executive producer and series creator Chris Carter, said in a statement. Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny will come together yet again as Dana Scully and Fox Muldur for a limited series of six episodes.įollowing a 41 second trailer, production will commence this summer for the anticipated miniseries with an official premier date to follow, notes the Hollywood Reporter. For all of the fans who wanted to believe Mulder and Scully would make a comeback, it apparently worked. Fox recently unveiled the return of The X-Files 13 years after the series finale and seven years following the latest X-Files movie and now, a cryptic teaser clip has been uncovered.

Unfortunately a one-season wonder after a surprise cancellation, High Fidelity is an adaptation of both the 2000 film and 1995 novel of the same name. Yes, there’s a certain irony to ranking the show at number six.
#I may destroy you nick kroll movie#
High Fidelity – the novel, the movie and now this series – is about the solipsistic emotional damage that comes from filtering your deepest inner self through the same top-five filter you use to order your record collection. Bonus points for casting Toronto comedian Dave Merheje as one of Ramy’s always-advising best friends. Standalone detours for Ramy’s sister Dena, mother Maysa and blustery bigot Uncle Naseem never abandon the show’s mix of empathetic humanity and laugh-out-loud absurdity. The addition of Mahershala Ali as the no-nonsense Sheikh Ali Malik, who Ramy thirstily chooses as his spirit guide, takes this sleeper comedy to another level in season two. Ramy: Season 2 (Crave)Ĭentral character Ramy (Ramy Youseff) continues his self-searching quest to be a better Muslim and a better person but never stops self-sabotaging. Her revealing performance as a tender but fierce Indigenous mother is bottled up history, trauma, love and strength. The ensemble cast is wonderful but it’s Crystle Lightning who leaves us awestruck. Doing away with the fake politeness that persists on Canada’s primetime, this stab at the YA genre is an expletive-heavy and politically loaded series about a molly-peddling BC teen (Joel Oulette) who discovers the power and purpose of his ancestry. Trickster is thrilling, comical and beautiful. Michelle Latimer and Tony Elliott’s adaptation of the Eden Robinson novel Son Of A Trickster is proof that Canadian content that does right by representation doesn’t have to feel like a chore. For a show dealing with drug addiction and sexuality-related shame, all intertwined with the pitfalls of the kind of new relationship we don’t often see on TV, it’s still delightfully warm and packed with tender moments of reflection. The semi-autobiographical series written by and starring Canadian comedian Mae Martin delivers you the laughs and chemistry of a solid (and queer!) romantic comedy with the added bonus of realistic character and story development. With only six episodes, each less than 25 minutes, Feel Good is an easy binge-watch. When we got hooked: Episode 3, Trent Crimm, The Independent In short, it’s the show I didn’t know I needed this year. Think of Paddington, but with a guy from Kansas City instead of a bear – and a lot more swearing. And now, Sudeikis has expanded that blip of a concept into the year’s most purely pleasurable comedy: A fish-out-of-water show about a character so genuinely nice and compassionate that he ends up making everyone he meets into a better version of themselves. Jason Sudeikis created the role of Ted Lasso – a cheerful but clueless American football coach hired to manage an English Premier League team, apparently by mistake – for an NBC Sports ad campaign back in 2013. When we got hooked: Episode 2, Someone Is Lying Above all, I May Destroy You is a potent and brilliantly timed appeal for empathy and understanding. Everyone is a victim, everyone is a culprit and, often, their own worst enemy. She takes some of the most polarizing conversations of the past several years and probes them with unflinching honesty and manic stylistic flights into dark comedy that make the most of her wonderfully physical acting style. Over 12 episodes, this event will send Arabella careening inwards and outwards, complicating prescribed narratives around class, race, consent, liberation, exploitation and victimhood.
#I may destroy you nick kroll professional#
Coel created, stars in, wrote, co-directed and executive produced I May Destroy You, a wild and discursive ride through the psyche of London-based writer and social media star Arabella, who is sexually assaulted the night before a major professional deadline.

Michaela Coel’s latest TV series pushes the boundaries of TV storytelling in much the same way as its characters are examining boundaries in their lives and relationships. You’re about to discover your new favourite show. Seen anything good lately? The more relevant question, given the whole Stay Home, Do Nothing vibe of this year, is probably whether there’s anything left that you haven’t seen.īut of course there is: programming is spread out over so many streaming platforms, and in such quantity, that it’s hard to keep up with everything released in a given week, let alone a calendar year.

It seems to me that one of the biggest clues to the problem is the fact that when the computer is in "gray screen mode", I cannot boot to anything OS 9 related. I think I would end up doing more harm than good. I just don't feel qualified to work in Open Firmware. What you say about the system not finding the "tbxi" resource sounds interesting. Unfortunately, I don't get any error message, just a gray screen. I had read the first two but had not seen the document about error messages. Unless you really know what you're doing. You wouldn't want to do any very drastic changes to the boot params However you should be a bit careful while mucking about in the firmware. Simple short-cut for fixing this wich I've have thankfully If you havent done any fancy formatting of your original drive there's a The trick is reset the boot-device to the correct path. part)Ĭheck more of the developer-pages for all the available commands. One of my ata/ide harddrives on partition number 9.
Carbon copy cloner os x 10.3.9 for mac#
This just means that my boot resource for Mac OS-9 is is somewhere on You will be greeted with lots of meaningless info. If you succed to enter into the firmware-screens, you can type: printenvĪnd hit return. This one is an example of a Forth-command To boot into Open Firmware press: Opt+Cmd+O+F at boot-time. You could try to boot into the mac firmware -Īnd by using the arcane "Forth programming language commands". "The path to this file is stored in the Mac-bios". I do not know if the searchpath to this resource is actually stored in the pram. Tbxi is little resource in the system folder - the hardware reads it at start up. Sounds to me like your system does not find the " tbxi" resource it needs to A few of other things I tired while in gray screen mode: 1) trashed System prefs, Max OS prefs, PCI-424 prefs, and Finder prefs, (OS 9) 2) tried booting into OS 9 with just mouse and monitor connected. I've tried to include every step I've taken.
Carbon copy cloner os x 10.3.9 install#
When the OS 9 problem occurs I cannot booth into anything OS 9 related: either of the original OS 9 installs, my OS 9 install CD, or the fresh OS 9 install. I could not boot into the fresh install of OS 9. This time, since I could boot to the OS 9 install CD while OS 9 is working, I did a fresh install of OS 9 on a volume of my firewire drive.Ī few days later the problem happened again. I went through all the above procedures again but nothing helped. Suddenly I could boot into OS9 and everything was fine.for about a week.
Carbon copy cloner os x 10.3.9 software#
Since OSX always works perfectly it would seem this is some type of software problem. While in OSX I could start Classic mode and run apps in my OS9 volume, so my OS 9 System folder must be OK. I rebuilt all directories with Diskwarrior version 3.0.3. I ran Disk Utility from the OSX install CD. I removed the PCI card and the battery and hit the power button to discharge and left sitting overnight. I unplugged everything and reset the PMU switch. I tried booting into OS 9 with extensions off. I booted into my OSX firewire and install CDs. I restarted holding the option key to get the boot selection page. I tried to boot into my OS 9 install CD (the one that came with the computer). I tried to boot into my firewire OS 9 volume and got the gray screen. I do 90% of my work in OS 9 so the computer is usually left in OS 9, like it was the first time I powered up and got the gray screen. Problem: When I boot into OS 9 I get a totally gray screen. A carbon copy clone of my OSX volume is on one volume of my external firewire and a "dragged" copy of OS9 is on another volume of my external firewire. OS 9.22 is on one volume of the first internal and OSX 10.3.9 is on another volume of this same internal. Two internal drives and one external firewire drive. G4 933 single processor Quicksilver, 1.5 GB RAM, MOTU PCI-424 audio card installed. I'm hoping someone on this forum will have some new ideas. I've tried everything I can think of to solve the problem but it still persists. I've had an intermittent problem for about a month now.

Phones with ufocus
Tamron – Need lightweight, compact mirrorless lenses? Tamron has you covered, with superior optics perfect for any situation. For all the photos I shot, I preferred a black and white edit with a boost to contrast, detail and clarity. The camera itself and the motion blur leave the straight-out-of-camera (SOOC) result looking soft and muddy. Because you have to be quite close, any kid movement equals a blurred photo. The latter makes it hard to counter the movement of little people with a bit of extra distance. I thought Live Focus might work for a pseudo-macro effect, but the camera tells you to “Stay within 1-1.5 meters of subject” and can’t focus if it’s closer or further away than that. It’s also hard to get the distance right. I tried shooting potted plants, but it took multiple reframing attempts to get the plant leaves to stand out in focus against the greenery of the garden behind. Second, it has a lot of trouble with grabbing something to focus on in conditions with low color contrast. Tapping the subject helps, but not always. Even when my son was motionless (well, sort of motionless, he is three, after all), the camera struggled. The camera tries to predict what you want in focus, latching onto a face if it finds one, or taking a center-weighted stab in the dark if not. I took my three-year-old out to play, switched to Live Focus on the built-in camera app, and started shooting.įirst, with a moving subject, it’s very (very) difficult to get a focused shot. But how does it hold up for family photos? Is it possible to get a satisfactory DSLR-like effect using Live Focus? Samsung Live Focus: The bad When shooting on my DSLR I almost always shoot wide-open, because I love creamy bokeh and background blur. I use my phone to take day-to-day photos of my kids (said every parent ever) so Live Focus appeals to me. Utilizing two of the phone’s triple camera system to simulate a wide aperture effect, photos taken with Live Focus have a distinct look to a standard phone snap. My Galaxy Note10+ comes with Samsung’s Live Focus feature for the built-in camera.

Digital motion sickness glasses
Staring at a fixed object on a smartphone or tablet while a car is in motion can produce the same result, and children are most susceptible, Dr. "It's a natural response to an unnatural environment," cognitive psychologist Cyriel Diels told the Times. And when the body sees motion it does not feel, it prompts a queasy response, The New York Timesreported. Digital motion sickness, or cybersickness, creates that same dissonant response in the brain that leads the body to believe it's in motion, this time after watching moving digital content. Other common motion sickness curatives, like dimenhydrinate (sold as Dramamine) and ginger root pills were considered "least effective" in preventing illness by the study's authors.Ĭitroën designed the glasses with a particular version of the malady in mind. The phenomenon can also produce drowsiness, stomach fullness and cold sweats, preventable with doctor-prescribed scopolamine. Motion sickness almost always manifests in nausea, but severity ranges from "vague malaise to completely incapacitating," researchers wrote in a 2014 paper. This aligns the senses and alleviates the confusion, and symptoms should subside about 10 to 12 minutes after the user wears the goggles, which they can remove once their symptoms pass. The four-ringed glasses (two around the eyes, two sitting on the temples) are filled with a blue liquid that moves front-to-back and right-to-left as a car, train or boat moves to create an artificial horizon, according to Boarding Ring, the company that developed the technology. The vestibular system in the inner ear detects the vehicle's movements and send signals to the brain to maintain balance in what it perceives to be motion, but since the body isn't moving, these mixed signals elicit a stress response. Motion sickness results from discordant sensory input when the brain believes a stationary body in a moving vehicle is moving, too. On July 7, Citroën launched its "Seetroen" travel glasses, hailed "the end of motion sickness in minutes," which alleviate nausea caused by conflicting brain signals about the body's perceived motion, a common reaction to riding in cars or prolonged exposure to moving digital content. But 3D displays force our eyes to converge but not to accommodate (because the object is still displayed on an unmoving, flat screen) which gives some people headaches.A French car company thinks its latest venture-a peculiar pair of lensless glasses-can cure 30 million Europeans' chronic motion sickness. Meanwhile, the lenses of our eyes bend to maintain focus on an object, which is called accommodation. Normally, our eyes must each aim slightly inward at an object coming toward us, in a process called convergence. Three-dimensional displays have their own issues, and for different reasons. Oculus is working on the problem, but the company says it may never go away. Oculus Rift, which only sounds like the clinical term for the disorientation it inspires, is a virtual reality headset that one reviewer said “ is amazing until it makes you want to hurl.” The company that makes it, Oculus, says one issue is that there’s a subtle lag between users’ head movements and what they see in their headsets. (Other explanations exist-such as, that some of us are just worse at adapting to confusing sensory cues.)ĪP Photo/Niklas Larsson By 2030, this could be considered normal.Īs the technology to generate and display 3D environments and effects has become less expensive, it is making it into pretty much everything with an interface. We get sick, goes the classic hypothesis about the origins of motion sickness, because in our evolutionary history, a disconnect between our equilibrium and our visual cues indicated we’d probably ingested something poisonous, and the thing to do next is vomit. Motion sickness arises when our inner ear senses movement but our eyes don’t perceive any, whereas simulation sickness is the inverse: We see motion that should indicate we’re moving when we’re not. The exact incidence of these disorders is hard to pin down: motion sickness occurs in between 25% and 40% of the population, depending on the mode of transit, and simulation sickness occurrs in between 13% and 90% of the population, depending on how immersive and convincing is the virtual environment. The US Army has known about the problem for decades, since it often uses simulators to train soldiers. While people encountering these effects for the first time compare them to motion sickness, what they’re experiencing has a more specific name- simulation sickness. AP Photo / Marcio Jose Sanchez Even Apple’s iOS 7 is making people sick.
