Ok so ghost headcanon time!

Ghosts purring is a very popular to see around here, I love it, you love it, excellent fluff potential.

BUT! What if ghosts purred at infrasound frequencies?

If you don't know, infrasound is sound waves at frequencies below human hearing, usually 20 Hz or less. It's been known to cause uneasiness and anxiety in people and, if you hit the resonant frequency of the eye, hallucinations.

Imagine now, Danny is happy, his core wants to show his friends/sister he's happy! He starts purring and they just get the heeby jeebies.

I see your "ghosts can purr" and "ghosts can whistle/chirp/squeak" and your "ghost speak" headcanons. And I raise you:

Blob ghosts can chirp and purr, sure, but only at certain frequencies. (They're only so large after all; they can only make so much physical sound.) This means that to the human ear, they tend to be rather high-pitched and squeaky.

In a stunning show of mimicry behavior, blob ghosts are occasionally capable of mimicking local sounds around them. Documented sounds mimicked have included microwave beeps, certain text notifications, egg timers, and humanity's greatest threat: that sound the fire alarm makes when it's out of battery.

An annoyance of the highest degree has been released upon Amity Park. No one is safe.

I wanna know what happens to the stuff Danny has on that disappears when he transforms.

His clothes are a neat example to try and illustrate because Danny as much as he likes to wear the same wardrobe, has worn other stuff. So it’s not like he can only switch between his hazmat suit and his signature outfit. If he was to wear cosplay and go ghost then he would turn back human to being in that specific set of clothes. Only who knows, maybe they’re just underneath.

But what the fuck with the stuff?? We have multiple objects that seamlessly stay with him when he transforms.

but then we also have

things that disappear into the void?? but no not really. they reappear in later episodes (proof? don’t got it). So, i’m totally assuming Danny can reach into the stuff when he transforms back? summon it at will??? that would be so neat but more questions.

Like where are they stored? Do they somehow exist in the same expanse of space he does and it’s locked temporarily until Danny turns human again?? Does it fuse into his ghost half when he transforms? (fenton helmet from when Danny overshadows his own avatar)

Because okay how do you even begin to explain the ecto-skeleton f-logo transforming alongside him into a phantom one?? Is Danny capable of using his essence as an extension of his being to affect those same inanimate objects?

By popular demand, the Danny Phantom event Angstfest (formerly Going Angst Week) has made its triumphant return!

That's right party people and dissecc lovers alike! Angstfest is a 10 day event celebrating all the types of angst that we know and love!

The overarching theme this year is No One Knows AU vs Everyone Knows AU

Each side of the theme provides 3 days where you can work on one piece under that theme, or if you want to push yourself, you can try to complete the daily prompts (one for each day)! Between each of the two main themes is a break day to rest up and recover, or get ahead on your piece(s) if you wish. The final two "bonus" days are themed Ghosts of the Past and features two prompts that you can choose between, or you can do both!

All manner of creativity is accepted: art, fics, music, AMVs, memes, OCs, crossovers, etc, so long as it features DP. Just make sure to tag for gore if you're going down that route, and also tag #angstfest2023 so everyone can see your creation!

We also have a collection on AO3 this year under "Danny Phantom Angsfest." It's open, all fic writers are free to add their fics to it!

August 1–3: No One Knows AU

What if Sam and Tucker weren't there for the accident? What if Vlad never revealed himself? What if your favorite character had to deal with their trials alone? These three days are all about loneliness and isolation! While traditionally the AU has been about Danny, any character of your choosing along with any HCs you may have surrounding them are acceptable here so long as they fit the vibe of "no one knows."

August 5–7: Everyone Knows AU

What if Danny's reveal didn't go so well? What if everyone knew from the start? What if Vlad's ectoacne turned him into a social outcast? What if Dan's story went a little differently? These three days are all about social reaction and community reaction! While traditionally this AU has been about Amity Park knowing that Danny is Phantom, like with the previous prompt, you are allowed to use any character and HCs you have about them so long as they fit the vibe of "everyone knows."

August 8–9: Ghosts of the Past

The final two days are about looking at the past—at what you made and/or other people have made—and celebration our angsty creations! Whether you want to take another crack at an old WIP, maybe you have an art piece you think you can outdo now, or if you really really loved this old angst fic from 2013 and you think it's a real shame no one remembers it, this is the time to share all of these creations!

Choose one or both: 👻 Aug 9: Revamp one of your old works (WIPs count!) 👻 Aug 10: Share/reblog an old, angsty piece of yours or someone else's that you love!

me personally? i die every night and come back wrong every morning but no one notices because i've been doing that for a long time so it's just kinda par for the course

Just saw a fic that was like "ghosts is really more like a taxonomic family than a species so Danny just sorta made up the categories, cuz no one else had. After all, who would stop him?" His parents???? The famed ectobiologists????

ANYWAY I now firmly believe that Danny should make up ghost taxonomy for real and publish a paper as Phantom. He's attempted scientific studies of the Realms before with his mapmaking and this would help combat misinfo. He's uniquely qualified to write this with dignity and respect, it would be groundbreaking no matter how poorly done it was but he was raised by scientists and wants to get into NASA, I think he knows the basics. He could be the first to credibly say there was a world of difference between blob ghosts and homo sapiens ectoplasmus

A very merry Dannypocalypse 2023, to all who celebrate.

It's only the third biggest day in April—after the 1st and the 20th, of course—but it's here for us, and we are here for it. It is that day of days when we as a people gather for one of those few beloved things that unite us all; it is the very fabric of our community. It is a common cause, a binding thread, and the chance to gather together and celebrate what means the most. Neigh, some say these are troubled times in which conflict and division are rife. But today's commemoration is that most crucial reminder that there really is always more that unites us than divides. O come ye, dear dwellers of the dashboard, for this: #dannypocalypse, of #danny phantom fame. It is the reason for the season this April 3rd, 2023—unite with us in celebration for that young, eternally 2D boy, whomst possesses that most exceptional wave of shining black hair.

It is not often that one is bestowed the chance to communally change blog icons to that of Mr. Phantom looking frozen and alert as part of a day's celebration—so when April 3rd rumbles around each year, you know what to do.
