I think the gist of humanity can be summed in the invention of contraceptives and combat sports. If life evolves in the same sort of ways everywhere that life itself manifests, surely fighting other life forms for resources and having to dedicate much time and energy for procreation are the cornerstones of primal survival, which an intelligent life form would eventually come to see as distractions and obstacles from more intellectual pursuits. If things like conflict-solving and the process of producing young can be automated in any way, surely that would be a welcome relief that frees time and resources into learning more about how black holes work.

But nah. Humans like fighting and fucking so much that they'd rather figure out how to perform the activity without even receiving the outcome just for the hell of it. Sometimes you just wanna punch a dude in the face without anyone ending up dead or get railed without ending up with a baby.
