whooooooo wants to see some low quality tf-adjacent doodles I drew months ago =D

the story behind these is that I wanted to doodle but robots and cars are harder than turtles so my brain's compromise was jets which is,, not a compromise,, and yet that's what happened

Attempt 1: Ecce! A sloppy grid and wonky sketch. Drawn in 30 seconds. Just trying to get a feel for the shapes.

Attempt 2: Featuring a slightly better grid. Basically I was attempting to use a grid method to redraw the reference/diagram I was looking at on my laptop, except I forgot about the part where you draw a grid over the ref and was just approximating the angles and proportions with a single lined sticky note. MVP award goes to that sticky, it was my last one at work.

Attempt 3: Now an expert, I free-handed—haha just kidding. I thought, what if I resize the diagram, trace the outline, and fill in the details? So I did that. Now there are missiles (forgot about them in #2 whoops), vertical stabilisers (finally noticed them in the diagram double whoops), and 💜 hearts!! 💜

OKAY SO. So. As far as how I came up with her,,, I just really like Sunstorm okay beheh and I wanted to give him. A Little Guy

Not that I know literally anything about canon Sunstorm,,, but headcanon Sunstorm is so DEAR TO ME and I just wanted to make an OC that kinda slotted into his story a little bit I think! I’m having a lot of fun with her beheh

While I have in fact just finished reading all of IDW 1 (and I do literally mean all of it— every single issue bruh it took me 6 months but man was it FUN), I haven’t actually read any of the Dreamwave continuity yet, so everything that involves Sunstorm and Shockwave making Sunstorm I just. Sorta. Made up beheh

I like the way that Sunstorm is presented in a lot of fanon stuff, and I thoroughly enjoy the polite vibes more than the religious zealot ones, so I’ve kind of taken that and ran! More of this is about Sunstorm than I thought it’d be lmao, but I’ve kind of made him up off of various fics I’ve read and Zeropro’s comics beheh. Anyway.

As for “literally everything about her”, strap the fuck in because you just gave me free reign to YAP about this little continuity I’ve made:

OKAY SO. When Shockwave was stranded on Cybertron and left with nothing better to do than experiment and occasionally fight the Autobot femmes that were left there with him, he decided to go ahead and continue his experiments (obsession) on outlier abilities.

Shockwave also happened to have some sparks he had illegally harvested from a hotspot back in the day (because evil), never placed in a frame and perfectly preserved for his experiments. Using these, he copied over Starscream’s CNA (obtained before they disappeared on Earth) to rewrite all genetic code on the spark and began tinkering with the different aspects of CNA he theorized led to outlier abilities.

He smacked that spark in the Seeker frame, and BAM! Sunstorm! Super powerful radioactive outlier! I love the idea that Shockwave utilized this to power his experiments further, pfft, so Sunstorm was essentially a glorified battery for a bit. I can imagine that he probably learned about being a Seeker from the other few Decepticons stuck on Cybertron— primarily the Rainmakers— but wasn’t let out of the lab much. This led to him becoming a pretty polite, soft-spoken mech, and he learned to control his outlier to something tolerable for other mechs.

But anyway, this isn’t about Sunstorm (it’s a little bit about Sunstorm), it’s about MY LITTLE GAL!!!

After the success that was Sunstorm, Shockwave finally heard from Megatron— and he was on Earth, alive! Woo!! Scientific progress can continue with his leader’s input!

As communication and collaboration with the rest of the army was restored, he gained updated spark scans of TC and Skywarp (the last ones he had were from the Academy) and decided to conduct another experiment about cloning outlier abilities. Except, uh oh— no more cold-constructed frames to shove a spark into!

Was this gonna stop him? Nope! Shockwave determined that if he didn’t have any ready-made frames, he was going to try his hand at growing one the old fashioned way.

In my little continuity, Cybertronians are created pretty much entirely in line with the IDW reasoning:

But the sparks that Shockwave stole and froze he stole before they developed the sentio metallico core, so therefore, he had no protoforms to work with. Was that gonna stop him? Nope!

Shockwave tinkered with a formula of a solution that could embue life back into the protoform of dead mechs, and once he perfected that, he began harvesting dead sentio metallico from the Autobot femmes he had killed over the years (and kept, because he’s a freak).

He placed the harvested metal into these tanks, and then went about with his CNA tinkering again— he copied Starscream’s first (since it seemed his CNA was already suitably strong enough to create a good base for outliers), and then spliced in the section of Skywarp and Thundercracker that he theorized was responsible for their outliers, and then dumped the sparks he experimented on into the tanks.

At first, he didn’t think it was going to work, as all but one of the sparks almost immediately fizzled out— but one of them didn’t, and instead, actually started to bond with the revived metal!

Lo and behold, a mech began to form, albeit incredibly slowly due to the nature of the metal it was working with. After a little bit, it was evident that the protoform was developing into a Seeker femme— unsurprising, due to the nature of the spark she held and the metal she was made with.

Shockwave was happy with his success, but as time went on, it became obvious that the protoform wasn’t developing into a proper Seeker. Shockwave theorized that this was likely due to the scarcity of both Energon and other resources protoforms typically used to develop, so for quite a while, she was too weak to exist outside of the tank with the life-sustaining solution in it.

While Shockwave did not prohibit Sunstorm from seeing his newest experiment, he didn’t encourage it, so Sunstorm was usually only around when Shockwave was off doing something else. He loved to play with her while she was in her tank, though, and Sunstorm watched as she grew from a small protoform into something that was… sort of a Seeker!

Once she developed a bit of her outer plating, Shockwave took her out of her tank, and began testing her for outliers. During this period of time, she mostly learned everything she knew from Sunstorm, and lived for the times where the older mech could teach her about the world, and what it meant to be a Seeker! Sunstorm helped her learn how to walk, how to fly, how to use wingspeak— even if she couldn’t quite get it with her alt-mode being as modified as it was, she eagerly learned everything she could.

As she became fully formed, the time went on without her showing any signs of outlier traits, and Shockwave was deeply disappointed in the fact that his experiment (which had taken up a considerable amount of resources!) was, essentially, a failure. Shockwave shipped her off to Earth without ever even giving her a proper name, determining that she could be more useful to Megatron than a useless experiment to him.

(Sunstorm had given her a designation, though, even if Shockwave hadn’t— it’d been her most-prized secret! He called her Moonstorm, after they saw Luna-2 in the sky, the few times she was allowed outside of the labs. Sunstorm made her promise not to tell Shockwave!)

Megatron took a look at her and knew that she would not, in fact, really be useful for anything— she was some sort of half-baked flyer, had no weapons to speak of, and her plating was practically as flimsy as a newbuild. He had thrown her at Starscream with a quick explanation about her being another clone of some sort, but at least she wasn’t radioactive.

Starscream was, understandably, pissed about being cloned without his consent— again— and poor Moonstorm thought she was being helpful by explaining that she wasn’t just cloned from him, she was cloned from his trine, too!

That did not make him any less mad. That actually made him way, way more mad. Skywarp, however, was absolutely ecstatic to find out he’d been cloned, and while TC didn’t know how to feel about it, he certainly didn’t feel the vehement hate that Starscream did, pfft.

She made quick friends with the two, and while it was true that she wasn’t exactly good at being a Seeker (read: she was terrible at it), Skywarp and TC saw her odd not-name (how did Shockwave not give her a designation?) and her suspiciously dull fangs and claws (did Shockwave… do… that?) and took her under a wing. She even trusted them enough to tell them her unofficial designation after a few days :)

Past that, who knows? Maybe Starscream would come to terms with being cloned again, and maybe she would actually display outlier traits, once she’s given the ability to shine…

But that’s pretty much it! Long post is… so…. So long….. and I’m sure there’s stuff I’m forgetting but YEAH :D!! She’s just an overall very fun self-indulgent OC eheheh >:3
