I’m sure someones already said this but I often see Tumblr described as a hellsite. This is fundamentally incorrect.

Tumblr is the faesite. Everybody is super confused and lost, you keep running into random places. Somehow you end up stuck there forever after interacting a couple of times. The people are all strange, everybody simultaneously seems to be from the future and the past as if time is meaningless.

My summary of art for 2024 🎨

January & February: I started the year out strong, feeling settled in my style and still in love with Steddie.

March: Watched the movie Marmalade and loved it - had to draw Baron and Otis some.

April: Back to Stranger Things with this picture of Eddie and Wayne.

May & June: Hit a major art block. Watching AI become more and more prevalent, putting artists out of work, while companies keep stealing art to train on - it felt pointless to keep drawing. It especially bothered me that my art was all digital, which made me reliant on untrustworthy companies like Adobe.

July: I decided to change up my art style - incorporating traditional art as much as possible. (Also I fell headfirst into the Dead Boy Detectives fandom.)

August & September & October: I continued to experiment with style. I settled on a technique of combining traditional pencil drawings with digital color - using only Procreate, which is a company that still seems to be supportive of artists. (I also want to do fully traditional paintings - but that’s slower going, since it requires more time and materials.)

November: This was a pretty shit month lol. Overwhelmed by illness and overtime at work, I didn’t draw at all.

December: Holiday craziness and work stress pretty much took over this month too, but I was finally able to work on my frame for the DBDA “best frames ever” project.

Overall, it feels like this year had more downs than ups… but I hope 2025 will be better. My art goal is to keep refining and exploring techniques - especially some more fully traditional painting.

'People are panicking about AI tools the same way they did when the calculator was invented, stop worrying' cannot stress enough the calculator did not forcibly pervade every aspect of our lives, has such a low error rate it's a statistical anomaly when it does happen, isn't built on mass plagiarism, and does not obliterate the fucking environment when you use it. Be so fucking serious right now

like i'm sorry but we as a fandom have to stay firm on our anti-AI values. we cannot suddenly start giving AI a pass when it's something we "want to see" like destiel kisses. it's not suddenly fine. we're not going to start using AI to make fanfic scenes come to life or audio AI to make characters "say" stuff we want to hear. you have GOT to be firm on your anti-AI stance. if you start making exceptions then suddenly anything will fly. fandom is for real art and creations made by real people. no AI fanfics. no AI art. no AI rendered "bonus" scenes. no AI audio. none of it has a place here.
