Thermosphere
Kurzgesagt mentions that the tip of a Skyhook/Space Tether would dip to about 80 - 150 kilometers above the Earth's surface and no lower.
This section of the planet is called the Thermosphere.
Upon a Google search, currently, "only satellites can reach the thermosphere" and "The International Space Station and other space stations orbit within the thermosphere, but their inhabitants must remain inside the station or in a space suit at all times."
The Thermosphere is the 4th layer of the Earth's atmosphere. It exists between the mesosphere and exosphere. The mesosphere ends at about 80-90 km above the Earth's surface while the exosphere begins at about 600 km above the Earth's surface.
This means that the tip of the Skyhook tether will grab aircrafts somewhere along the line between the mesosphere and the thermosphere and no lower than about 80-90 km.

we should globally ban the introduction of more powerful computer hardware for 10-20 years, not as an AI safety thing (though we could frame it as that), but to force programmers to optimize their shit better

General things to think about:
Children WILL be born on board this thing. How will it effect the health of the child and parent?
Flying through unpredicted storms.
Unpredictability of AI
Possible interference with animal patterns.
Who continues plane functions if plane's AI and electronics malfunction? i.e. where is the "manual" functionality of this thing?
Cons:
WHEN things break, it may be very difficult to repair them for a number of reasons.
Some people might WANT the feeling of turbulence. Turbulence may give a specifically unique experience flying on board this machine.
Carbon emissions of all of the planes flying to maintain this thing is potentially GREATLY worse than anything else created.
Primarily seeing clouds
Pros:
Sky people go brr
This is how the sky hotel - which can house 5000 guests - never has to land 馃槷鉁堬笍

Guy Bluford Changed the Course of Space History
On Aug. 30, 1983, Guion Bluford, better known as Guy, became the first African American to fly to space. An accomplished jet pilot and aerospace engineer, Bluford became part of NASA鈥檚 1978 astronaut class that included the first African American, the first Asian American, and the first women astronauts.
He and the other crew members of mission STS-8 were aboard the orbiter Challenger as it lifted off from Kennedy Space Center in Florida; it was the first nighttime launch and landing of the Space Shuttle program. While aboard, he and the other crew members deployed the Indian National Satellite (INSAT-1B), operated a Canadian-built robot arm, conducted experiments with live cell samples, and participated in studies measuring the effects of spaceflight on humans.
youtube
Guy Bluford chased his childhood dream of becoming an aerospace engineer, and in doing so, changed history and encouraged other Black astronauts to follow in his footsteps.

Space Elevator 鈥撀燬cience Fiction or the Future of Mankind?
Kurzgesagt is the inspiration for this entire blog. And this video sparks inspiration to write today... I would like to write a paper using articles and other content like this video to begin building realistic models of a Space Tether / Sky Hook / Space Elevator.
I probably have to decide which name this invention will be called. I don鈥檛 care about that right now though. It鈥檚 already hard enough conceptualizing and getting the willpower to tackle such a feat.
I want to complete this though so here we are to start.:)

Not gonna lie, it took me a while to understand how blogs really work. I've been using Tumblr since 2014 and all I have ever really done was reblog other people's posts. I've been so afraid of sharing my own thoughts to the world that I simply did not do so very often.
But I have a LOT of thoughts.
So thanks to a simple definition of what a blog actually is (thanks to Google), I can feel more free to express my thoughts out to the world in an informal way. And I think the first things that I want to talk about have to do with this Space Tether/ Skyhook thing.
I've grown a habit of being afraid to express my thoughts because I have grown to believe that my thoughts are some of the most horrible things that can be expressed to the world/void at large.
(Sidenote: I'm currently working on my Master's degree in Information Systems Management and sheesh. I wish my breaks from completing this discussion paper were longer... I honestly have to get work done by tonight so it's a good thing that my breaks are as short as they are but still. Can't I just be lazy in peace?)
When it comes to this Space Tether thing, it seems like a big project... And it is! But if I can get this thing up and running by the time I am 40 omg I would have such a good life. I would feel extremely proud of myself...
I've been posting things here and there on this blog but I think I might start taking things up a notch.
I want to code for fun... And this project is a hobby for me to work on. If I rub two brain cells together, I get the idea of coding things to complete this extremely big-dicked project.
I'm gonna go eat before I have to work some more.
I'll talk to you all later
