 ❝  it’s  not  alright.  ❞  she  says,  her  voice  wobbling.  she  hated  that  her  job  kept  her  so  far  from  the  people  she  loved  most  in  the  world.  that  she  was  constantly  having  to  pick  between  the  two  sides  of  her  life.  ❝  next  time  something  even  so  much  as  starts  looking  like  it’s  going  downhill,  call  me,  and  i’ll  be  on  the  next  flight,  okay?  ❞  she  says,  capturing  one  of  his  hands  in  two  of  hairs  and  holding  tight,  raising  his  hand  to  her  lips  and  pressing  a  kiss  to  warm  skin.  ❝  we’re  in  this  together.  ❞

he hates not seeing her, hates that she’s so far away when he needs her most. and he hates that he cannot tell her why. cannot explain why he’s changed, why he is the man that he has turned into now. there’s so much between them. ‘i can’t always count on that. it’s not fair to you.’ he knows he holds her to a higher standard, to an unreachable height. and he shouldn’t. ‘i just miss having my friend around.’

she has hope, that things will work out – that they will. there isn’t anything else she wants in the world but to be his, and she wants him to see that. because she’s made for him as he’s made for her, truly. bella knows that they’re made for each other because nothing has ever made sense, except for being with him and all she wants is to prove that to him, if anything. she wants so badly to show him that he can be loved and that he will, by her. her heart beats — loud enough for him to hear, the complete urge to let him know that she’ll even love the so called monster he has, because she loves every single part of him.

“we’ll make it work,” she promises, her eyes looking at him with nothing but her promise, nothing but her love and admiration for him, for what they have. it’s strong, she knows. bella lets out a sigh, wanting for him to just stay and be with her. his words ringing in her ear, allowing it to seep in like a parasite. “we can make anything work, you have to trust me.”

her words are a lullaby, a siren song. he falls deeply into it - into her as he leans in. his body craving to wrap up next to her, to lay as they have countless times side by side. two bodies falling into one, merging. the pieces of him that want to hold back are wavering in their stance, falling away and losing their hold over him. he wants nothing more than to stay with her. now and forever. 

‘i do trust you.’ he tells her fervently, meaning every word. ‘it’s me that i don’t trust, bella.’ the pieces of him that are unpredictable, unstable. what if i hurt her? it’s  a thought ever present on his mind. the scars on emily’s skin flashing through his mind like a terrible nightmare. ‘i’ll stay for tonight.’ he cannot promise much, but he can promise her this.

‘emma carstairs.’ a grin followed by an enveloping hug, warmth spreading through his face. ‘it’s been awhile.’ they had first run across each others paths months ago when jacob had been running through los angeles. emma had been hell on earth back then - scolding him about rules and laws he had never heard of. of course, he was just a small town boy. / @missamericanuh​

‘it’s complicated.’ he explains to her, trying to find a way around the twist in his tongue. the idea that all of his secrets are not to be explained to the outside world. a world he suspects she also has no part of. ‘i can’t tell you anything, i’m bound.’ / @tricursed​
