At my mother’s land. I haven’t been here in 16 years. My mother had a very traumatic childhood. My grandmother was murdered by my grandfather, leaving my mom (11y/o) and 8 other siblings orphaned.

Being here, I’m reminded of the trauma my mom and her siblings endured and how it has carried on. It’s been therapeutic for my mom to remember and share the good memories she had with her mother. Our relationship has been strained for years. I’m hoping this trip changes things.
