Hi There! My name is Sarajo A. Martinez a.k.a. (S.A.M.) and this is an evolution of “SarajosPhotos” here on tumblr. "Posts" here are my artwork; things I "Like" are probably someone else’s. This is me trying to share a myself a little more with the people I love. This is a digital time line of my artwork. This is the place people will come to judge the quality of my work. This is where I share my creations that can make you irk! These are my feelings visually. This is where I find my healing. This is where people will come to “see me”. This Is Me. Do you see? Can you tell I like poetry? One of my favorite lines from a poem book entitled Milk and Honey(Rupi Kaur) with my own twist on it of course is -This is my heART in your hands.

To be seen is not to be loved. But to be loved is to be seen and understood completely.

"5enses" -For my BFA show I wanted to engage my guests into having a fully submersive experience. Being that Art is mainly a visual field I wanted to expand on the fact that we don't just have one but several senses. So when guests entered my gallery space they had the opportunity to have all 5 of their senses stimulated. Additionally to tie everthing together I chose wood/tree products as the main medium for the show. "5enses" addressed: Sight- As I mentioned before art is mainly visual, so all objects were available for visual consumption. Touch -Guests were allowed to handle certain small ergonomic wooden figures some made for hands while others were made to roll feet on. Smell -As guests were encouraged to take off their shoes and get a foot massage I had near by little lace bags filled with cedar chips that were soaked in cedar wood oil so there would be a pleasent aroma in the space. Guests were also allowed to(if they wanted) take home one of the little cedar chip bags as a gift and small reminder of the show. Taste -Sweet and Savory treats were presented on the reclaimed wood scraps table and guests were welcome to snack on dried apples from my grandmothers apple orchard or Pecans from a local grove in Las Cruces. Hearing -Swallow Coconut Windchimes this was a refrence to Monty Python and the Holy Grail (just a little inside joke for laughs). These Images of course are only a tiny visual sample of what guests were able to experienced at the actual show.
