Today’s films: Empire of Light and The Fabelmans.
I am honestly shocked that the former didn’t get nominated and it is criminal that Olivia Coleman got snubbed. I found the latter to be overly saccharine and very masturbatory. Funny thing is, they both had a "movies are magic" theme running through them but I felt like Empire didn't try to bludgeon me with it.

This, however, is an excellent movie and Paul Mescal’s performance broke my heart.

Today’s Oscar-nominated punisher: Elvis
This is not a good movie. It is not as bad as Blonde but it is not good.

Is this subnetwork within shitty HMO network a thing that is happening everywhere nowadays or is this just a dumb California-specific thing?
I’ve not had good health insurance since moving here, largely because I was stuck in the Kaiser system for about 4 years. But even now that I’m out, every plan that’s remotely affordable is the same stupid version of an HMO with a smaller subgroup within it, shrinking the pool of subpar providers even further. I don’t know if this is a function of the changing landscape of health insurance or if it’s region-specific.
All that is to say that I desperately miss the PPO plans I had in Chicago.

Now suffering through: Bardo
I hate this movie almost as much as I hated Blonde. I'm halfway through and still haven't seen anything warranting a cinematography win over All Quiet on the Western Front (which I expected to dislike but didn't!).

Last year I watched all of the Oscar nominated movies and I’m trying to do the same this year but man some of these are punishers.
For example…
Blonde
This movie is nearly 3 hours worth of trauma porn & I can hear Ana de Armas’ accent. I hate it.
I am also not looking forward to Elvis or The Whale.

Finally cut the last string.
Good luck to the comrades still doing good work. But I’m out. LA ruined it.

It’s not about Inisherin. It’s about one boring man leaving another man alone, that’s all.

People have repeatedly asked me why I’m so scared of driving and quite frankly I think I hold a normal amount of fear towards driving. I think most people could stand to be a little more scared of driving tbh

I mean, I’m a happy lad. Or I was. Til me best friend started acting the gilly-gooly.

A small PSA to all those new to dealing with the porn bots that Tumblr now has a fresh wave of – I understand that when you go to report them, you want to report them as "[containing] sexually explicit material", but don't do that. Report them as spam instead.
These are spam bots flooding tags and the website in general with spam links. They often do not have anything sexually explicit on their blog (although they often have implicit material). Plus, these two reports get very different results. Reporting explicit material gets the bot slapped behind an 18+ wall, so minors can't check if they're a bot or not. Reporting spam gets the bot taken down.
Remember, folks: when dealing with a bot, report spam, not smut!

Goals for 2023...
Continue to further distance myself from the Org That Shall Not Be Named
Take my union’s steward training and get involved with Labor Notes
Stretch every day
Improve my dance technique and learn to get out of my head enough to practice improv
Choreograph one piece (even if it’s just re-choreographing an old piece)
Record & share some of my work…this one might be the hardest because I absolutely hate to watch myself
Read more books
Settle for body agnosticism sometimes (bless JP Brammer)

This 90s ride with Cody is gayer than actual Pride-themed rides and I’m 1000% here for it.
