giving birth sucks tbh. not only do you and the baby you’re birthing almost die, usually you shit yourself and often you tear your taint. then you have to push an organ out of your body (placenta) and if even a little of that remains in your body, you can hemorrhage to death or develop an infection that essentially rots your body from the inside out. even if you had a relatively “easy birth”, you bleed for weeks on end. even after that stops, your body and brain is changed for the rest of your life, the pregnancy leeched minerals from your bones, that can cause osteoporosis later. minor urinary incontinence is not uncommon, brain scans of people who gave birth show permanent changes in their brain, you’re never quite the same.
I say all of this not to say giving birth is disgusting but it is a harrowing and visceral experience. society downplays how fucking awful it is and makes it out to be a ~magical~ experience but it isn’t a magical transformative experience for everyone. it can be an extremely traumatic experience for someone who wanted to carry a pregnancy to term, much more so for someone who did not want to be pregnant in the first place or someone who knows their baby won’t survive the birth. anyway, abortion is a right. pregnancy and birth aren’t just inconvenient, it’s fucking awful.

things we need to address:
gen z men getting pulled into alt-right pipelines through andrew tate, joe rogan, elon musk, jordan peterson etc
the gullibility and stupidity of half the country voting against our collective best interests
the broad effect social media has on public and common good
lazy minds and lack of empathy
outside-country interference (trump and elon’s connections to russia and the amount of bots from other countries spreading misinformation)
the long-term effects of AI and rampant disinformation
#yall arent gonna like this#but the way we address this is by connecting with these people and talking to them#yes there's a difference between pineapple on pizza and human rights#but regardless those ideas still exist and we need to address them effectively#a lot of these young folk aren't taking the time to develop a salient ethos#they feel cheated (especially the white boys) out of something they've been told they deserve#and they're looking for easy answers and people to blame#this is obviously very bad#but when we cut off people for having shitty opinions they just find people with shittier opinions and listen to them instead#it's definitely not your job to be friends with someone who happily voted (or would've voted) to take your rights away#feeling unsafe around that kind of person is a perfectly reasonable instinct which shouldnt be dismissed#this is life or death for a lot of us#especially for black femmes#who have been forced to shoulder the burden of respectability politics since seemingly the dawn of time so don't be asking them for shit#but it's not life and death for everyone and not for the same reasons#and because social media works algorythmically#incendiary content gets much more traction#which is in part what's causing this#but it's also killing debate#every “debate” you see online nowadays is just self righteous people yelling at each other trying to make their opponent look bad#instead of patiently and actively listening to what they have to say#making sure they understand#and responding thoughtfully and in good faith#i mean look at the harris trump debate#it was just finger pointing and name calling#that's showbiz baby#as much as it pains me to say it we gotta practice some degree of tolerance#that doesnt mean we get okay with fascism it means we acknowledge the reality that a lot of people are and we gotta fucking deal with it#as good as the finger pointing and name calling feels that isn't the praxis you think it is#the revolution will not be in the comments section
